Never new any of that! It's a shame, at least when he returned in 99 that they didn't give him the title. He could still go. oh yeah he was defo meant to debut at Road(Hog) Wild 96 as the next member.its said in either Hall or Nashs solo shoot or the Outsiders one.its also stated in the "Death of WCW" book which EVERYONE should read. he held off and held off with Vince until he finally resigned.was this the reason he was jobbed out to Sid at Summerslam 96? Hog Wild happened on August 10 96......Davey only resigned the friday before I think.Summerslam happened august 18th a mere 8 days later.I bet Vince was still hot about someone else playing games with him. Yeah he probably jobbed out because Vince got angry that he was messing him around! |

I think WCW offered Davey 3 million to jump ship. And it wasn't at Hog Wild, it was on the Nitro in September that Big Show turned heel and went NWO. It was supposed to be Davey Boy at that Nitro. I believe Davey Boy signed with the WWE for 1.5 million with guaranteed title reigns. That is why the European Title was created for him, and why he had the Tag Title and European at the same time. I am like 100% sure of all of this, cause I read it many, many years ago. Unless what I read was false, but I don't believe it was. |

I don't see how Davey Boy would have fit in with NWO at the time..but if that's the case I would have has him and Anvil join the NWO following the screwjob and left Bret as a face.

I remember reading in Bret's book that Vince created and put the European title on Davey to "finally give him what he had promised" so this is all probably fact.

Plus, Davey Boy seemed unstoppable at that time too. I remember when he and Owen were tag champions, Davey Boy was pretty much a face, cause he kept helping Bret against Steve Austin, and Owen would play the heel and try to talk Davey Boy in not helping Bret.
And to hold 2 belts at the same time, and for the length Davey Boy did too, was pretty rare even for the 1996 - 1997 time.
