I've been watching the special features from the Shawn Vs. Bret Blu-Ray.
I've watched Shawn's HOF Induction a number of times and it never ceases to get me all emotional. By the time it's over, I have tears in my eyes. Some of you may poke fun at me for that but for those of you that understand, let me ask you this; what is it that makes us wrestling fans that connected to these guys and the product?
And to keep the discussion going, what are moments that get you in that way?

I just watched all those special features the other day and that speech also got me a little teary eyed.
Another one that gets me every time is when I see Edge's retirement speech. To watch a guy a guy have to retire and him not being able to do anything about it gets to me.

However, at least he got to do everything there was to do in the biz and he went out on top.

I think we connect because we seem them every week, beside my Family and friends, WWE is the only thing I see weekly whilst everything else sort of comes and goes. Seeing wrestlers on a weekly basis really helps you "bond" with them without really meeting them, seeing them go out their and entertaining us for a job and having the same passion for wrestling as the fans is a great thing to have on TV. Watching people like Zack Ryder who was a member of this board, basically one of us and now hes on WWE TV its like one of our own made it.

its so true how we get so connected to these guys.I was horrified to find out hawk had died.and when the Dudleys did the Doomsday Device in that match while wearing armbands for him....I found that quite emotional.

This is more recent than what should be considered "classic" but one thing that got me teary eyed was seeing Daniel Bryan cash in the MITB and win the belt. I've been a fan of his since I was 10 years old and can remember meeting him at an MCW show in 2000 and watching him film vignettes all day on roller coasters, log rides, and other things around the theme park. That was during the time he wore his mask.
It was really surreal seeing a guy that I've literally followed almost his entire career win the World Heavyweight Championship. I was extremely happy for him.

I'm not 100% sure on how to answer your question. Probably it's due to Michaels being great on the mic. He never fails to put tons of emotion on them. I think that the connection is more because of when we feel we are like that person. Pretty much why I think personalities are better than gimmicks.
For example, I started liking the Cena character when he started all this Rise Above Hate campaign. When I saw the promo at Royal Rumble, I pretty much noticed I want to be like Cena. I'd love to be myself and not care about what anyone thinks, just do what I want because I feel comfortable doing so.
