Thus why I choose to ask it in here rather than the general WWE board. Spare me the sarcastic comments but..... Why do they call it the "squared circle" I've wondered this for as long as I can remember.......

The only thing I could think of was it was referring to the old style sumo-type wrestling rings that were circular and it was just a play on that, sort of paying homage if you will.
Looked it up and I guess I was kind of right
From the "wrestling ring" Wiki(so take that for what it's worth) The term squared circle is often used by wrestling promotions and promoters to refer to the ring.[1] It is a term that originated in traditional Greco-Roman wrestling, since the action takes place on a square mat with a circle painted on it. This format is still used by amateur wrestling leagues throughout the world. It is possible that professional wrestling promoters adopted the term from these earlier roots, or it could simply be that it is referred to as a "ring," (circle) but is square in shape.

I always assumed it had to do with when wrestling was involved with carnivals. Since most carnivals have a circular floor I assumed that the term "squared circle" came from that. But, I guess you learn something new every day.
