As I'm sure all of you know by now, Jerry Lawler is my favorite wrestler of all time. It bugs me that all he is known as by today's audience is the commentator who just doesn't seem to care now.
Lawler has gone on record saying he'd much rather wrestle than do commentary.
Lawler will never go down as the best technical wrestler but he will go down as one of the best talkers. He's always been the type, face or heel that could put butts every 18 inches as they say.
Take some time and watch these clips. Learn something about the king of wrestling that maybe you didn't know.
To keep this thread going, talk about your favorite lawler moments, share videos if you got em.

Lawler is awesome. Good wrestler and loved his commentary back in the day as well.

I love Lawler, he was one of the funniest commentators ever. Face commentator Lawler on the otherhand...

I tell you what I'd like to see is Cole go to Smackdown as the heel commentator and someone else come over to Raw to work with Lawler (Maybe Josh Matthews or even Matt Striker) and let Lawler go heel again.

Very underrated in terms of wrestling, and truly a legend in commentating (until he turned face).
Now he just needs to go away.

always liked Lawler.I hoped against hope he and Flair would have had a few matches in WWE around 2003,2004 but we only got one very short effort.

yeah they missed the boat there IMO.a cage match between the two complete with heavy juicing would have been aces!!
they could both still go.should have happened when Evolution were pushing everyone around.

Being from Memphis, I love Jerry Lawler. He is a great entertainer and is a great person to his fans. I remember seeing him at a local sushi restaurant in 2008 and the entire time he kept staring over at me (I was wearing a Triple H shirt) I'm assuming he was thinking I was going to go bug him for an autograph. I had more respect than that, he was with his girlfriend and they were enjoying their dinner. The few times I've met him though he has always been kind.
My favorite Lawler moment was from a 2003 house show at The Pyramid. He teamed with Shawn Michaels to take on Triple H and Ric Flair. It was amazing seeing Flair and Lawler wrestle eachother and to see HBK live for the first time.

I loved the Lawler vs. Bret stuff!
Plus, I'm biased since Lawler grew up for a short time in Amherst, Ohio which is a town away from where I live.

I am from a town not far from Memphis TN so growing up Jerry Lawler was wrestling to me. I didn't even really start watching WWF on a regular basis until the time Monday Night Raw started.
So... I'm about to make a statement that will probably knock you out of your socks........
Aside from a few of the guys from the 80's I'm not a huge 80's WWF fan.
I know... I know. And I was talking to my dad about this on Saturday. I think it's because growing up only really knowing about Memphis wrestling, it was so different. They didn't have a lot of over the top characters and it wasn't cartoon like, so I guess that's why I find it hard to connect.
That's not to say I haven't learned my history, I just like having the facts about wrestling but I honestly enjoy WWF/WWE a lot more from 96 and up than I did prior to that.

I think Lawler is awesome. In my opinion, he is has been one of the most under-utilized talents in the WWE since 1998 when he slowed down on his in-ring stuff. To this day, he is still one of the best punchers and promo men in the business. I was so happy for him that he got the Miz championship feud last year.
For me, Lawler and Bret was the feud that kept me watching the WWF during much of the new generation era. His SummerSlam 1993 performance is outstanding.
He was so over as a heel when he showed in the ECW Arena in 97. It was crazy! One of my favorite WWE moments involving him was the night on Raw in the summer of 2000 when the Lawler/Tazz feud first started. It was in MSG and he saved JR from being punked out by Tazz. They also had a heck of a snug little brawl in 2007 on that Raw vs ECW Special.
I really wish the WWE would turn him heel and use him to lead/mentor a faction. He still has so much more that he can contribute besides being a commentator with his stale counterparts.

I loved him since the mid to late 80's. He was so annoying that it was entertaining. His son was just so annoying it was annoying.
