I use to be a huge fan of Yokozuna, and when I was a kid, I was convinced that he was really a Japanese Sumo Wrestler. He pulled off his gimmick really well and was definitely a competitive commodity in the ring. He made Stone Cold craphimself. Im glad he was inducted into the hall of fame this year and remember actually clapping when they did his tribute. I remember watching his matches on WWF superstars saturday mornings after cartoons were shown. I also remember how good of a tag team he was with Owen Hart. When Scott Hall and Kevin Nash were invading WCW and announced that a secret third member would join them at Bash at the Beach, my father and I were speculating how impactful it would've been if it were Yokozuna, as he had left the WWF at the time.
I just never understood why Yokozuna never had the shine that his cousin Dwayne Johnson had? Or why Dwayne didn't do the honors in inducting Yoko into the HOF. I always thought Rikishi was a cheap replacement of Yokozuna. I honor the man and wish we had someone like him today in the WWE. Lord Tensai doesn't count.

Yokozuna was amazing.
But only as the big, bad, unstoppable heel. I never liked him teaming with Owen, it seemed like a cheap, last minute replacement for Neidhart after he left the company before Mania 11. And then even worse as a face during 96, even though I still love his match at Mania 12.

Yeah, WWE board, Classics board... two different places.
Can you figure out where this one would go?

Yeah, WWE board, Classics board... two different places. Can you figure out where this one would go? seems to be really difficult for some RJ!! was never really a Yoko fan myself.I enjoyed some of his stuff but I always felt his near year long reign was excessive. he also really piled on the weight by the time WMX rolled around.....and after that into 96 was worse again. but I do appreciate the range of movement Rodney had for his size.

looking back,i enjoyed his work, and he was great as the monster heel,on top of the WWF as World Champion, the perch that it seemed no one could knock him off of,no matter how hard they tried...
at the time,i hated him, though, and wanted to see him lose the belt DESPERATELY , which means on thing : he did his job effectively!

Did not enjoy him as a child. Which is probably normal, considering he was a heel at the time. Looking back now, I think he's one of the best big men the business has EVER seen, period.

Classic. The guy was one of the first wrestlers I knew. I was in awe of him as a kid.

Sadly I never appreciated him as a kid. But looking back I could watch any match of his over and over. I loved his belly-to-belly suplexes and legdrops. Man those legdrops made it seem he crushed the guys face!
I did hate him as a face. I always felt he was a natural heel.
