Just watched the documentary of the life and death of owen hart, i've got to say what a powerful emotional documentary it was. What i realised as well was not only was Owen a fantastic wrestler but more importantly he was a greater family man. I wish owen never died in that stupid stunt he did and im sure he would of gone on to be wwe champion. Anyone else watched this? and what was your opinion of it? RIP Owen

while Owen was a great performer and all round gent it seemed(except with the Patriot whatever that was about)he was never going to be WWF World Champion IMO.
its really sad what happened to him.....such a waste.

I wouldn't say never^^.
He was going to get "The Game" as a gimmick, I can't see them not giving him the world title as "The Game".

Never watched it. I've heard it's good, but I have no real interest. I was unfortunatly in attendance in Kansas City at Over The Edge 99, and I do not wish to relive it really.

I am pretty sure that was always for Triple H to have. Owen would have never been a WWE Champion. The best chance for Owen was in 1994 when he was feuding with Bret for the belt, or in 1997 when Bret left and he was trying to get revenge going after HBK. He never won the belt during those times, so clearly he wasn't gonna win the WWE Title belt in 2000 with Triple H, Rocky, Austin, Taker, Kane, Angle and those types of guys around.

Owen was in mid card mediocrity at the time if his death, teaming with Jeff Jarrett and set to win the IC Title, which he had already held twice. If he had been in the main events around the time of his death then I think you may have had a point.
Owen was more likely to become the guy that enhances the next big talent to main event level, kinda Benoit had become before the tragedy.

As much as I love Owen, I find it hard to believe he would have ever been more than a mid card champion. He was just missing something that I can't put my finger on.

Triple H has said before that Owen was to be called "The Game" had he not died so suddenly. It probably would have been after The Blue Blazer gimmick, but how long after I do not know. Now, whether or not it means we would have seen the same incarnation of "The Game" character that we know to this day is up for debate. I'm guessing not, and I also doubt it would have elevated Owen to the same level it did Triple H eventually. As unfortunate as it is to suggest such a thing, the fallout from Owen's death did wonders for Triple H's career.

wow.I had never heard that!!
I doubt Owens passing had any impact on HHHs rise though.that was already happening big by May 99.

Yeah its well known Owen was getting the Game nickname and gimmick. I think it would have been really weird to see him in that role. He always played a smarmy, weasel as a heel, or a goofy heel. Count me as those not seeing Owen getting a title run. By 1998, that roster was absolutely loaded. If they didn't put the title on him in 1994, when he was at his peek as a heel (and generally when the product had few legit contenders), they weren't going to put it on him at all. Lets also not forget, Owen wanted to retire fairly soon as well. Just don't see it.

I think if he would have stayed around long enough he could had been World Champ. Once Guerrero, Benoit, Hardy, Edge etc started winning titles. I could see him as champ before some of them. He likely was not going to stick around that long though.

i dont think owen would have won a world title of fit in to the "game gimmick" he was pretty much burnt out around his death and was prolly going to retire soon if he had not been in that tragic accident. miss him alot though, he was great to watch

I always liked his "Black Hart" face run after Bret left.
I thought that had a lot of potential.

Always a big fan of Owen Hart's. My seven year old son Owen can attest to that.

I always felt his feud with HHH could have been better but Vinnie wasnt interested.....he had planned to turn the DX faction Face after WM anyway so Owen was put with the Nation...... which brings me to this question-what did everyone think of his Nation run?
