What makes a match be deemed a "Classic"? This is probably not the right board or it's been posted before but oh well. Here's my view:
In-Ring Performance: This is what I look at first. I want the action to be back and forth, good near falls and "edge of your seat" moments. Like the Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels Match from WM XXV, or SCSA vs The Rock at WM X-Seven. Just hitting finishers on each other and wondering if they'll kick out isn't enough. I want to feel that every move that they execute on each other can actually end the whole match.
Crowd Reaction: It's tough to get a hot crowd these days. Most of the time, the crowd's dead and sometimes it takes away from the match because if the crowd isn't all energized up, it makes the match seem boring even though it can be one of the greatest. There are still good crowds out there but not like back then. If the crowd is electric, then that makes the match even more special because you can feel the tension that's happening in the match and it can get you even more on the edge of your seat.
Time: Probably not really important, but I want a match to last long enough so that it doesn't leave a sour taste in our mouths because it was too short. 15+ mins is enough time to pull out a great match.
Those are the only 3 I have so far but I'll probably add more later on. I am interested on your guys' opinions. Again, sorry if this is the wrong board or if it's already been posted. I just got curious about this and decided to make a post about it. You guys can name examples if you'd like to support your opinion. Ex. Cena vs Punk, Rock vs Austin, ect.
