(note: See this thread: wfigs.proboards48.com/index.c.cgi?board=wfnj&action=display&thread=1204540586 for the background info on this.) I've been collecting Hasbros MOC for about 15 years now. I've seen the prices fall and rise over the years. All the while I've kept these little plastic dudes cramped up in their little cardboard prisons. After one of my extra yellow card Crush figures just sold for a "whopping" seven bucks (plus a very reasonable 5 and a half bucks shipping) I decided the time had come: I've been wanting to do that for a LONG time! Who's with me! Let the mint on card collectors reform! Rip open those packages and enjoy some fresh loose figures! (okay, I'm still keeping the good stuff MOC. I can't commit all the way, after all).

........... you're probably right ...... but can't bring myself to doing that yet...... I had expected my Hasbro and LJN MOCs to be a bit of a retirement fund. Guess I have to work a couple of extra years.
Btw... you look a bit like Mike Rotundo ànd Razor Ramon.

A am sure at least one or two of those have been used as indy wrestling names in the past! BTW, true story, I have had that figure MOC for about 12 years now and I NEVER realized it has the silver "Razor Ramon" logo written on the back of the vest! I've never seen or had one loose!

congrats on your courage...I can't do it (again) myself.
My only MOC opening in my adult life has been two LJN's - McMahon and Fuji.
I needed them both for my loose display and lucked out and won them both on ebay MOC for a very very good price.
Even though I bought them for my loose display, i had to ask my fiance to rip open the packages because I couldn't bring myself to do it. I still kind of regret not keeping them MOC and just continuing my hunt.

I've got a handful of MOC Hasbros and they're signed. So I'm keeping them MOC!

Even though that Razor figure isn't worth a whole lot, there's no way I'd open any of my MOC Hasbro's. And yes, I do have that Razor too. I just think they look much better in the package rather than loose on a shelf.

wow, even to open a yellow razor youve got guts, i made the mistake of doing that with about 15 njpw figures and was gutted a year later when i didnt want to display them anymore.

Well, I'm gonna shock you a bit with a confession nobody knew, except for Stom...
OK, here it goes: I kind of cheated on this hobby with my old love... Die Cast. That's right: a year and half ago I decided to quit collecting figs and pick up my 3" Ferraris collection again. Anyway, what I'm getting to is the following; setting die-cast free has a name: DLM (Die cast Liberation Movement); I'm a DLM'er. Maybe it's time to find a name for rescueing caged figures... FLF (Figure Liberation Front)? Well, I couldn't completely leave my former love (collecting wrestling figs) in the cold: I still collect Popys (loose) and the occasional Pro-Wrestling NOAH fig (most of the time they get ripped out of the package).

Yeah, you know I've gotten similar comparisons in the past (I get Glen Danzig from the band Danzig and the original Misfits when I have my hair down).
Anyway, I just had to tear that Razor off the card, pretty much for every reason already mentioned. I spent YEARS going to stores, checking over cards and bubbles, picking up the best looking ones and extras to sell later, and now they mostly sit in boxes. They may look nice carded, but you can't see them in a box in the attic. That same Razor figure used to get 20-35 dollars EASY (same with the seven dollar Crush I referenced in the original post) but now sells for just over original retail most of the time, so why bother holding on to it MOC and letting it sit in a box when I can get out some MOC collector frustration and rip it open! Like I wrote, after all these years of having Razor figures MOC I never knew there was a logo on the back of the vest!
It just felt really liberating to throw caution to the wind and open an old figure. And all it really cost me is the five dollars I originally paid for it when I got it.
I've got my eye on that Berzerker figure that I think needs a pair of custom furry boots and a sword now! Or maybe that IRS to form the dreaded Razor Rotundo tag team!
Ruby, I like the FLF idea. Who else wants to make a move and post some nice, newly freed figures?

if you are opening them that means theres 1 less moc razor on the market, slowly pushing its price up 1p. oh that it just may do. I think this is my explanation for never collecting MOC figs.. the temptation has always been there but i know what im like, i would spend everyday on ebay or figure sites like this one, looking for another thrill.. lol (not much difference to the present i admit). I commend you on your bravery, although i personally would regret releasing a mint, just in case, well, just in case it happens to be the one Razor left on card after the FLF have had their way. But, again.. fair play to you Hulk.
