I'm watching Austin's new dvd documentary and looking back at how Owen almost ended his career..if you were in Austin's position, would you of continued to wrestle or call it a career? Knowing full well of the consequences of the issues you will have to deal with in the long run, would it be worth it?
For me, its a tough call. You know you're about to break the glass ceiling but your neck will be such an issue that it'll be a short career. But I would roll the dice and go for it if I had to bust my ass like Austin did to get the Stone Cold character over.

At that point in his career he made the right choice by continuing to wrestle. He knew Stone Cold was going to be a big name...and it was. He made the right choice.

SCSA was well on the way on the way to becoming a huge star by Aug 1997, it was his main career goal, going by his ECW promos. Also WWF was losing to WCW at this point, so probably had a personal point to prove due to is hatred of Bischoff by helping WWF turn it around, which he did spectacularly

yeah he made the right move for sure.his time was relatively short but I dont know if any other wrestler had as many OMG moments in 5 years like Austin did.

Austin had been wrestling for years by that point, and was finally about to break the glass ceiling. Not many know this but Austin is older than both Undertaker and HBK. Just shows how long he was working to get to where he was in 1997. His neck was messed up but he was already the most over guy in the WWF by that point. No point in stopping right there.
