I figured you might all enjoy watching this. Unfortunately, it's very true.

Guy hit the nail right on the head. Although Power Girl wasn't there. Meh.

I remember when Bruce Wayne "died" that I said they should've kept him dead. I got bashed and flamed all over the Internet for it. To me Grayson as Batman made a lot of sense for the character and was refreshing. But DC went back to the well of killing guys and bringing them back to where no one cares any more.

Well, they never really killed Bruce, they just thought he was dead. Lame as it was. Battle for the cowel was nice, and Dick as Batman was neat, but the Return of Bruce Wayne and associated stories were awful, awful, awful.

It was the same thing w/Superman. They could've said Bruce was dead and just left it that way. They took Kid Flash and made him Flash after Crisis and it turned out to be a great, great move. Why not take another sidekick and move him into the big chair. Heck, do something like Batman Beyond if you want where Bruce does come back, but is so severely injured that he pulls the strings behind the scenes and helps finance the operation as well as design/build new gear. Bruce is an inventor. I don't see Dick as much of one.

Bringing Back Barry Allen just seemed a little silly to me, as Wally had been Flash so long, and was great at it. Heck they even killed off Bart Allen (who was flash after Wally disappeared into the speed force), and they brought him back as well.
So instead of one Flash, if you include Jay Garrick, you have 4. The Flash world is a little overcrowded right now.

Yeah, I think they tried to do with Bart Allen what they did with Wally. They wanted to kill off the main character and have the sidekick take over. With Bart it didn't work at all. Barry should've stayed dead. Bringing him back made no sense Bruce should've stayed dead. Superman I can kind of see bringing back as there's not really anyone to step in and become Superman. Also, he's an alien so him living forever makes sense. Bruce Wayne taking that kind of abuse to his body over such a prolonged period of time and he's still a world class athlete just isn't believable IMO. Batman is a younger man's gig. Heck, since they brought Barbara Gordon back as Batgirl, put Bruce in the Oracle role for that matter. His personality would fit there. He's a computer genius and a control freak and an information hoarder. But the Bat-family world is now more insanely crowded than the Flash family is.
It's a little strange. DC killed a ton of their iconic characters after COIE and didn't bring any of them back for decades. Supergirl and the Flash were the big ones. Matrix Supergirl came back a few years later, but a Kryptonian Supergirl didn't come back for decades after Crisis. Barry was the same way. DC needs to revamp their characters, but seems to be reluctant to do so. I think the last time they made a huge change to a character was when they turned Hal Jordan heel and they brought in Kyle Rayner as Lantern. That worked out well for them I think, but of course they brought Jordan back as a face. I don't know why they're so reluctant to leave iconic characters dead.

I stopped reading Batman after Bruce returned. Really enjoyed Dick as Batman.

I never wanted them to kill Bruce to begin with. Really stupid move. I thinkDC really needs to think before killing off a character....and then stick with it.
Barry should have stayed dead...

To me killing Bruce made sense. The idea that a guy his age can take the kind of punishment he's taken for a prolonged period of time and not suffer any ill effects is ridiculously unbelievable. Wonder Woman is an Amazon. Superman is an alien. The idea of them not aging makes sense. Just pure timeline wise, Dick Grayson, Jason Todd and Tim Drake all started off as 10-11 year old kids as Robin. Now all of them are grown men in their 20s. Given that Bruce started in his early 20s as well, he's got to be 40-50 years old now plus all the damage his body has taken. Making Grayson Batman makes sense. I like the idea of former sidekicks stepping into their mentor's shoes like Wally West did. Bruce and Barry both should've stayed dead.

Bruce returning was a bit of a buzz kill for me. I enjoyed the way Dick managed to control Damian, if not understand him better than Bruce ever could. Bruce is to iconic to leave dead but having him take a break from being Batman while Dick grows into the role and deals with the issues of becoming Batman when he seemingly avoided the role could have made for some amazing stories. The comics could have gained a it of a Batman Beyond vibe with Dick fighting crime as Bruce sits in the cave and tells him how he is doing it wrong. ;D
