Just wondering why the majority of the IWC have a problem w/ Goldberg? Whenever his name is brought up the IWC goes crazy w/ hate.
I always liked the Goldberg character. Sure, his matches for the most part wern't great, but his character was a wrecking machine. He was suppose to dominate his opponent w/ only a few moves. The few moves he did do looked great and devastating. As for selling, the guy was good at selling injuries and moves. Just look at his feud w/ HHH when he sold his ankle injury.
As for Bill Goldberg the person, I hear alot that he is an ungrateful ass, but from the shoots I've seen he seems like a genuine guy who cared about the fans. Sure, he may have had somewhat of an ego, but look at half the WWE roster in the last few years. Batista, from what I've heard, was 10x worse than Bill.
I've also heard people claim that part of his deal w/ the WWE was that he was to get a world title run, but this is B.S. imo. Vince wouldn't guaruntee a world title run to anybody if there was a chance they wouldn't draw. Also, unless somebody has a copy of Bill's WWE contract, then this is crap.
Can anybody shed light on the Bill Goldberg hate?

There are a lot of reasons. He wasn't a great wrestler (IWC adores workrate, as you know). He didn't earn his stripes, as they pushed him from the second he had a match in WCW. 95% of his matches in WCW were against jobbers. He was reckless in the ring (exhibit 1: ending Bret Hart's career). He mailed in what should have been a major Wrestlemania match.
I loved Goldberg's WCW run, but there are plenty of reasons fans don't like him.

I mainly dislike Goldberg because I felt his hype was a little undeserved.
He was OKAY in the ring. He was OKAY on the mic. He was an OKAY gimmick.
Nothing about him really popped or stood out to me.
He wasn't as good as Bret in the ring. He wasn't as good as Stone Cold on the mic. He wasn't as good as The Rock as a gimmick.
Just...meh...he was okay.

I have never had a problem with Goldberg.
I enjoyed his WCW stuff tremendously in 98 and his match with Steiner at Fall Brawl 2000 is one of my faves.fans go nuts about Goldberg ending Brets career and how clumsy he was etc etc but quite honestly Owen Hart nearly crippled Austin and shaved YEARS off his career.never a word about that.
his WWE run was a train wreck because of the way he was booked.

I agree about his WWE run. That was a total disaster and not his fault at all. Horrible booking all around.

After literally killing off every face on Raw for the last year at that point, you'd think that Hunter's ego would have been satisfied enough for him to drop the title to Goldberg while he was injured. The fact that he went over in that match proved how big of an ego Hunter has. It killed all the momentum Goldberg had at that point. Besides for the stupid backstage promo w/ Goldust, I thought that the first half of Goldberg's WWE run was good. He went through The Rock, Jericho, and Christian in about 3 months and was on a good run. It wasn't until he got to Hunter that his WWE run went south imo. Hunter killed all the momentum Goldberg had built during the first half of his run, and after Hunter was finished w/ him, Goldberg was put into a stupid feud w/ La Resistance and The Coach, and then went into his heavily hyped feud and dud of a match w/ Lesnar. Had HHH put Goldberg over cleanly and not made him look like a joke, I think people would have a much better look on Goldberg's WWE run.

I always liked goldberg back in wcw. Maybe it was because i was a kid around that time and thought he was cool. But now i look back and realize that he's not as bad as everyone says. I like the gimmick he had and didn't have this crazy colorful look. Like stone cold he wore all black.

Goldberg was the total package, his run in WWE was sabotaged and he still got over. The IWC hate is silly to me. The guy delivered in the ring and gave the fans what they wanted out of him, and that's spectacle, action and raw power.

I love Goldberg, really I do, I never saw much of his WCW stuff, so my opinion isn't based on WCW. In WWE, I thought he was just insane, such a great gimmick and feel to him, he was hard-hitting and was just all around cool. His match against Trips at Unforgiven 03 was great, its one of my MOTY for that year, and the Elimination Chamber is my favourite one of those, alot due to Bill, just so smash-mouth, you really believed that he could kill anyone who got in his way.

This. I remember marking out that big when he did that. After burrying guys like RVD, Kane, Steiner, Booker T, and Kevin Nash for the last year, it was the perfect moment for Hunter to finally get what was coming to him. Then when Hunter got the win I remember the crowd became dead while Evolution beat the crap out of him. I've heard Hunter marks try to explain that it was good Hunter went over, but the bottom line is that he shouldn't. Hunter was hurt, and Goldberg's whole character was dominating his opponents right away. Goldberg defeat Raven for the U.S. Title and Hogan for the World Title on his first trys. His character was never built to chase the title. He was built to dominate his opponents on his first try. Hunter going over was complete BS.
