what are the best ways a writer can get into the business? how does he need to defend his material (in terms of copyrights)?

If I had a question, it would be:
How much longer do you think the print format for comic books will remain valid, and how could brick and mortar comic stores adapt to survive in the rapidly evolving digital world of comics?
Do you believe that Marvel or DC will ever offer an unlimited digital subscription for their books?
Who is your favorite non-top tier character in Marvel and DC?

Do you believe that Marvel or DC will ever offer an unlimited digital subscription for their books? Who is your favorite non-top tier character in Marvel and DC? thanks for the great questions! these will all be asked. Heres my own answer to your first question. I own a comic book shop so i can tell you how we survive. We dont just sell comics so that helps but the big thing is we are not just a shop but a "destination" as i like to call it. We have a great place where friends can meet and just hang out if they want, and we encourage it. We have comfy couches and chairs, tv's, wi-fi, a video game room with 5 xboxes linked up, old school arcade machines, and we serve all kinds of coffee drinks and slush puppies! We also have many events at our shop like pokemon league and yoyo class on sat., doctor who tuesdays, anime thursdays, magic and d&d fri. and sat. night, and of course our podcast with brian on monday. I dont think "real" comic books will ever go away. And I think people are getting sick of being stuck behind a computer all day so they want a place they can go and hangout with "real" friends and talk about the stuff they love. We will see how Brian answers this question but knowing how much he loves our shop i bet his answer will be along the same line
