Anyone else as big of a Taka fan as I was? I always loved to watch him perform, especially in his early WWE career before they put him with Funaki. With his size he was never going to be a major player in the WWF but he was still fun to watch.

Yeah I've enjoyed his stuff, it's a shame that when he was around the cruiserweight division was so light. I think if he was around in '03 or '04 when that division was at it's peak he could have had some stellar matches.

Taka was pretty great, especially with a good opponent. If I recall correctly, the WWF brought in Taka because they were looking to hire Great Sasuke, and Taka came in as his tryout opponent/travel partner. Then the WWF powers that be were more impressed with Taka than they were with Sasuke, so they ended up keeping Taka.
I may be off by a detail here or there, but I seem to remember that being the story. There was definitely a lot of fanfare about the WWF signing Sasuke in response to WCW's cruiserweight division, and then when he finally appeared in the WWF, he disappeared quickly while Taka had a long run.

Taka acutally had a GREAT match with Triple H for the WWF title on Raw back in 2000. Plus he had awesome entrance music:

I loved TAKA, he was really good.
Also, thanks for that match, never knew Tajiri had a match in WWE so early.

I enjoyed Taka too.as said above if he had been around(and used correctly)during the 2002-2004 heyday of WWEs interest in the cruisers that would have been sweet!!
he could have had some great matches with Rey,Ultimo,Noble etc

it was good that kentai died off and let taka shine before funaki showed.

Always loved TAKA. Even when he was just in Kai En Tai.

TAKA was awesome in Japan in All Japan in Roughly Obsess & Destory. Nowadays he's hit and miss. He only tries when he can gather the two ****s to make the effort.

Yeah, he was pretty great. Over too. shame WWE didn't put more effort into the light heavyweight division. It kept looking like they were going to, but it didn't pan out.
