Ok I was talking to vandutch about this so I figure i'll add it to this thread for everyone elses opinion. Awhile back I posted pictures of my entire collection, Jakks-Hasbro-LJN and STOM said something about my Outback Jack having a beard (this was maybe 2006ish when I was here under a different name), and at the time I was under the impression that all of them were like this but I guess they are not. So look at my figure i'm about 99% sure that this is a factory paint job beard and i'll let you be the judge. I'll try to get some better pictures if you guys want as these pictures are somewhat blurry and it's hard to make out. And no i'm not doing this trying to rip someone off as I don't plan on selling this figure so don't think i'm trying to pull anything over on anyone.

I just noticed in the second pick, does that beard colouring go up the side of his hairline? or is that the camera flash?
I was talking with Walk Hard earlier. The first thing I thought of when I saw the pics was that someone had drawn on a beard with black marker and then removed it years later, which left a stain. However, it does look very even.
The thing that surprised me most is that no other LJN has this type of shading. The beard on CPL is very dark and his stubble is just raised bumps and not even coloured. I would have thought it they wanted to make a "5 o'clock shadow" type of look, they would have done that to both CPL and Outback.
Very strange. Can't wait to hear what others think.

It goes up to the hairline some just like your where you'd get stubble if you hadn't shaved in a day or so

Tend to agree with VanDutch
I have serious doubts about this variant. The 5 o'clock shade type look is really not something LJN did with any other figure. Never heard of other Outbacks being this way either, but.....

I don't think that it was a marker or paint that was rubbed off because it's hard to tell in the pictures but teeth are still pure white as well the upper lip is shadded as well as the beared and I think it would be almost impossible to rub the marker/paint off and not somehow ruin the bright white teeth

I was hoping more people would have given their opinions. It's definitely a strange colour......they should have made "street fight" LJN's and could have used this design to show bruising since it looks just like a black/blue shiner.

Yea I wish more people would comment on it as well, i really think it's legit and if there is a known trusted expert in the field of WWF LJN's (in the US because I don't want to deal with customs forms or huge shipping cost) I would gladly send it to them to take a better look and they could see it first hand and then return shipping to me.

never heard of anyone that you could send it to. AFA is supposed to be able to pick out fakes and customs, but I really have no idea how they would do it, other than search online. In your case, atleast to my knowledge, there hasn't been another one like this, so I don't know what they'd do to confirm or deny it.

I never collected the whole LJN line but I did have a decent amount of them; before I sold them. ,so I'll throw my 2 cents in. I have never heard of this variant but it could be legit. If another one turns up or if you can find a catalog pic; even say a Sears or Penney's ctalog pic, it might confirm this as being real. If it was a Hasbro, I'd say send it to me for inspection; although you might not get it back. LOL! Seriously, hopefully there will be some dieheard LJN collectors that can help you get to the bottom of this.

I've never seen that Bearded Outback jack before. I would like to see another one first before we can confirm a new variant. The one in my collection is clean shaven. I've seen numerous outback jack's over the years and never one like this. This would be a very rare Variant if it's Exists

I have looked at this for a few days now. The other thing that stands out to me is the gold on the vest. Is that a known variant? I think that this might be a paint shop sample. The beard is to evenly sprayed or airbrushed to be done by a novice - no over spray and the teeth and eyes are white. This would mean that they were painted after the beard. I am aware that most prototypes were cast in resin but, they also had to have a way to test the paint durability on rubber. Which most of us know sucked. I could also be totally off on my reply. I remember writing to LJN as a kid. I wanted to purchase figures directly from them (wishful thinking). I received back a reply saying that they only sold to retailers. I also got a printed list of all the wrestlers produced at the time. The Haiti Kid was on the list. What ever happened to that ? So, I guess in the end who really knows whats out there

It most certainly is interesting. However, since only one loose example has surfaced, I doubt it's legit...

I have handled many LJNS and collected them for many years personally and to sell and I have never seen an outback with shading for a beard. I do know one thing from seeing it before, ink will leave that very mark on an LJN skin tone if it is drawn on and then removed. So in my long history of LJNS and just by that pic id have to say someone colored a beard on it and then removed it leaving a stain in the rubber.
Upon looking at that first pic again, I even see green on his vest on spots that look to have been previously rubbed off. any info on those green marks?
