while going through the Orton/UT thread I was thinking about ol Daves contributions and what was his best match?
since he is official property of the Classic board now(like Edge) lets discuss.I was never a big fan of Daves work but he did produce the goodies a couple of times.
Im going to say it was either his losing effort against UT at WM(blinding match IMO)
or his HIAC against HHH....which I still find VERY entertaining.I wouldnt mind a Mattel elite flashback of him in that attire actually.
thoughts?

I think either his HIAC match with HHH or vs. Taker at WM 23.
However, I've heard that his match with Eddie was quite good as well from No Mercy 2005 I believe?

I was always a fan of Big Dave, and while he was never the best in the ring, I found him and his character far more entertaining than Cena's "Superman" gimmick. I'd watch a Batista match over a Cena match. Anyway my favorite matches from The Animal are...
- Vengeance 2005 HIAC vs HHH - Easily a top 5 HIAC match IMO. Tista and Hunter beat the hell out of eachother in one of the most brutal HIAC matches.
- No Mercy 2005 vs Eddie Guerrero - Not one of Eddie's best matches, but because this was still only about 6 months into Batista's first main event run, Eddie helped carry Batista to a good match.
- Wrestlemania 23 vs The Undertaker - Alot of people were giving Tista flack for his in ring work around this time and didn't think this match would be good. Tista and Taker surprised the heck out of everybody and put on a match that to me was more entertaining than the Cena vs HBK match later that night.
- Cyber Sunday 2007 vs The Undertaker - These two always had great chemistry in the ring together and seeing Batista get a clean win over Taker was a good change of pace after Taker dominated their feud earlier that year.
- Wrestlemania 26 vs John Cena - Probably the only match I enjoyed between these two. Batista's heel character was in full swing, and the only gripe I have w/ this match is that Batista should have cheated to retain as the fans were into his heel run big time and him jobbing to Cena at 3 straight PPVs was stupid.

His whole feud with Undertaker was brilliant in my opinion. His random match with Daniel Bryan on raw near the end of his run was also really fun. I also remember a match with Elijah Burke on smackdown that had an awesome finish.

Batista vs. Undertaker At Mania 23, Batista vs. Undertaker at Backlash 2007, and Batista vs. John Cena at Wrestlemania XXVI are my top three favorites. Honorable mentions; most of his matches with Undertaker.

The best example to show the difference between Batista and Cena is simple. Go back to Wrestlemania 21. Both men won the Title belts that night, and come January 2006, people were complaining that Cena has had the belt too long. Yet, Batista was still World Champion and nobody was complaining about that. Big Dave was the man, and it's a shame he left. His heel character was actually entertaining in 2010.
For some of his best matches, HIAC with Triple H, WM 23 with Taker, Night of Champions 2008 with Edge quickly come to my mind.

Yes 110%! If you ask people today they say that Cena was the man in 2005 because he was moved to Raw while Tista was sent to SD, but the complete opposite was true. Tista was THE MAN in 2005, having gone over HHH at 3 straight PPVS and he was moved to SD at a time when the WWE treated SD as equal to Raw and wanted the most over guy in the company to help SD. Cena was moved to Raw because Raw still had a ton of talent and he wouldn't be expected to carry the show if he bombed.
Fans were sick of the "Cena comes back to win" show by January 2006 while Batista was still accepted as a credible champ. The WWE clearly intended for Batista to be the face of the WWE until his unfortunate injury from Mark Henry in January 2006. It wasn't until then that Cena began being marketed like crazy and his match w/ HHH at WM22 that people saw him as the face of the WWE.

Batista doesn't get enough credit for being as good as he was. He put on great matches with HBK, HHH, & Taker. And had good matches with younger guys like Burke, Ziggler, & Bryan. For as big as he was, that guy could move.
Hope we haven't seen the last of him in a WWE ring. (cough* 1-2-12? *cough)

I for one was happy about this injury as it brought on that fantastic run angle had with the title.

Angle didn't really have a fantastic run with the title though. He had that really amazing match with Taker at No Way Out, but his RR match with Henry was horrible, and the match he had at Mania with Rey and Orton came off more like a filler match than a World Title match.

The match with Henry was definately a clunker but come on, the NWO match with Taker was sick, the free match they had on smackdown was great (might have been two but i dont remember), and the triple threat at Mania was good but way too short, and the night he won in philly I was there live and the place exploaded! With the exception of the Henry match he had a good run and i'd take it over half of the title runs now a days

With the exception of the Henry match he had a good run and i'd take it over half of the title runs now a days Agreed. The only good thing to come out of Batista's injury was that the WWE started taking Angle seriously again. 2005 was a horrible year for Angle story wise, as he is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, yet the WWE put him in stupid angles like trying to rape Booker T's wife and becoming a racist w/ Davari. I'm glad HBK turned down going to SD after Tista's injury so we could get Angle's awsome "Wrestling Machine" gimmick. His feud w/ Henry sucked, but his feud w/ Taker more than made up for it, and his match w/ Rey and Randy at WM22 was great but too short. That should have been the main event that year. Anywho back to Batista. I always wondered what Batista would have done had he never been injured. Obviously he would have retained the world title as the WWE would have never have had him lose to Henry, and then he would have taken Angle's spot at NWO 2006 and barely gotten by Taker. As for WM, Rey possibly could have still gotten the "do it for Eddie" storyline and won the title at WM, but I doubt it as Batista was still over big when he was hurt. My guess is that he either would have dropped it to Rey in a triple threat match including Orton or have retained against Orton.
