I just watched The Life And Times of Mr Perfect last night, thanks to WWE on demand. I've been wanting to see this for quiet some time.
I just wondered, did anyone else feel like there were moments they were coming from more of a kayfabe standpoint? It's like they mixed some real life stuff and kayfabe stuff in there.
I did love all the extra footage of perfect when he was shooting the various promo spots.
I'm surprised they didn't mention his drug use, until the death.
Overall, it was a good watch. I would have enjoyed it much more if they'd done that before he passed.

My guess is that you haven't seen Jake Roberts doc then? They didn't hide it at all with him.

WWE wasn't PG during the Roberts dvd release though. It got released in 2005. Perfect's was released in 2007 I believe.

Mr. Perfect is my 2nd favorite wrestler of all time behind Bret Hart.
I love this DVD and think it's very well done. The whole cocaine overdose is both depressing and surprising. They really don't touch on it at all until the very end which is just a still photo of a news clipping. I also wish they touched on why he really got released in 2002 (plane ride from hell). But I can understand that they didn't want to shed any negativity on him after his passing.
Sad stuff. He had so much more to offer the wrestling business instead of what we got.

I have Curt in my top 5 favs. He gave true definition to the word Perfect. One of my top 10 matches has got to be Mr. Perfect vs Bret Hart Summerslam 91. I think the reason why they talked a lot about Jake's in his dvd is because Jake's was also used in a story line (1996) and the man did not hide his own demons. Also he was a main character in Beyond the Mat which he talked about it. As for Curt most everyone (fan wise) did not know he was doing cocaine.

Plus we have to remember that Jake Roberts and Eddie Guerrero were both still alive when their DVDs were made so them talking about their drug use was acceptable. I just don't think WWE wants to tarnish Perfect's legacy since he has passed.
Off topic: I can't believe Jake Roberts is still alive. He's been on death watch since '97.

When talking about the Jake Roberts DVD, and the mentioning of his drug history, the thing you have to remember, it's kinda hard to not bring it up with Jake. He's demons with drugs, are basically legendary, and almost impossible to not mention. With Curt, his drug use wasn't to the excess of Jake, or as well known.

I loved Curt Hennig. I felt his time in the spotlight in the early 1990's was cut way too short as I feel he easily could have been WWF World Champion.
I am surprised at the WWF's mis-handling of him in 1993 and in 2002. In 1993 he seemed almost destined to be WWF Champion, but after he lost to Luger and Hart on consecutive PPVs, he seemed to go downhill.
Don't even start me about his return in 2002! We could have had a dream match at WrestleMania X-8 in Perfect vs. Kurt Angle, but no. Instead he got a part in a pre-event 6-man tag team match (which should have been on the card also) and was basically reduced to jobber status when he easily could have been feuding with Regal and RVD for the IC title at the very least.
All in all, I enjoyed his DVD and always pop it in when I can.
