reading through a website today, i came across the fact that it was a year ago today that he died.
R.I.P.
i remember him when he attacked the Undertaker during the 1993 Royal Rumble, as the Giant Gonzalez. I had just turned 13 at that time and was totally impressed with this huge guy.
unfortunately he didn't turn out to be the best wrestler in history but always seemed to try his best. i loved watching him taking on 2 or 3 jobbers in squash matches.
share your thoughts?

easily the worst wrestler I've ever had the pleasure of watching perform. Sad he died young, he had health problems and was living in argentina for a while

ah the giant.
I never seen him in action until his WWF stint but had read about him often in PWI which in Ireland was my only outlet to the non wrestling world.
but even as a 13 year old watching him I didnt find him much good.the poor man had severe health problems though.
that was a quick year.

It's too bad some of the gimmicks, like Gonzalez, that a lot of time and effort was put into didn't last long. He had two Giant fur suits, one with real fur and one with airbrushed. I think the airbrushed was second. Already they've invested some into him and with the Undertaker fued they gave him a near top spot. I guess as a hitman for Wippleman he could only have so many fueds and once Undertaker takes him out there's not much left. He was in the IC contender battle royal but was the first eliminated and was gone after that. Although some were horrible I wish the silly gimmicks like Giant and Mantaur would have lasted a little longer for the effort by costume designers but a good promoter should know those characters won't last long.

He wasnt a talented wrestler but I enjoyed him in WCW as El Gigante I enjoyed him as El Gigante as well. My Favorite thing had to be BattelBowl Letal Lottery with him teaming with Larry Zbyszko and Larry was standing on the second rope talking to him. Rip |
