I post on the Death Valley Driver Video Review board, and there is a topic there with guys discussing what their "holy grail" of pro wrestling is - that one match you've heard about, and wanted to see, but never had the chance to.
For me, it has to be Bret Hart vs. Curt Hennig in Alaska from sometime in 1989. I love their SummerSlam match, but this match has been raved about even more on various places, and I wanna see it a) because I absolutely love both guys, and b) just to satisfy my curiosity if it's as good as the first.
What's everyone else's "holy grail"?

not a match exactly, but the I've never seen the pre-show of the WCW SuperBrawl Revenge PPV from 2001. i always liked seeing the pre-shows of PPVs, but this one i missed at the time and have never been able to find a copy of it...

Well I just got to see a match I always wanted to see from reading about it many many many years ago in PWI magazines. It was the Destruction Crew vs. DJ Peterson and The Trooper for the AWA World Tag Titles. It was a pretty awesome match and I marked out for it last night when watching it on ESPN Classic channel.

I've always wondered how those Flair-Steamboat matches in the 70s were... the ones Flair and Steamboat both say were the best they ever had, but were not filmed.

The Great American Bash 1990, Sting vs Flair for the NWA Title.... the Blockbuster here in town had a TON of older NWA PPV's from the mid to late 80's ,but they never did get this one....

Not sure if this counts exactly...
But I could probably be talked into giving an arm to go see a live WCCW event in Dallas back in the 1980s when the promotion was thriving.

I know what you mean, one of my biggest (hobby-related) regrets in my life is that I never went to see WCW live. I could never afford to travel to the states to see a show in the 90s, but I did have the chance to go to the UK tour shows in late 2000. unfortunetely I decided I'd be better able to afford it "next year". and of course WCW was gone by then. looking back though, I really wish I'd gone to one of the UK tour shows. or better yet, gone over to the states to see it when it was thriving in 1997-ish. I did go to one of the shows on the first ever TNA UK tour though (2007 i think it was). I went all out for that and got front-row center ringside tickets. i did enjoy it but i dunno, my interest in wrestling had declined a lot by then. and nothing in wrestling since 2001 has ever quite captured my interest like WCW did...

Completely different company, man. You're talking about World Championship Wrestling. He's talking about World Class Championship Wrestling, the one with all the Von Erichs!

As previously mentioned, I would love to have seen some of Steamboat and Flairs matches from live events. Since reading Ric Flairs book, Ive always wanted to see some of the infamous matches that only the live audience had the privelidge to see.

I've seen several of my holy grails this year. Stuff I've looked for and talked to all sorts of people who may have it, but could never get. One of them was Gorilla Monsoon vs. Bobby Heenan on Double Dare, and just this week, Mitsuharu Matsunaga's retirement match. I had seen pictures and a brief video hype clip of Matsunaga's retirement and it looked like just the craziest match ever. a cage with a roof, with a pane of glass across the roof. At a certain point, an iron ball falls from the ceiling through the glass on the roof. Unfortunately, the match was really pure crap and didn't live up to expectations AT ALL.
The only holy grails I still have left are 5 BJW house shows from summer of 2006. I'm really doubting they were even filmed at all. I've been looking for them since 2006. I've seen pretty much everything wrestling that exists and I have 10,000+ discs of wrestling..
some of you guy's "holy grails" are just.. dumb. Either you don't understand the question, or you're not really much of fans. A match from Wrestlemania? there's like 50 different ways to buy every Wrestlemania, on VHS or DVD.. drop $15 and buy it.. a holy grail is something you'll probably never see, and if you do, it's more complicated than getting on eBay, typing in a search phrase, and hitting buy it now

I've been looking for that Kane vs. Mankind Hell in a Cell match on Raw for a bit now. It was the one Raw I missed back in 98 . I think it might be on the HIAC DVD set....

I wish I would've gone to WrestleMania 21. It was near me, and I don't know how long it may take for them to be that near again.
