As announced on "Still Crazy", Ring of Poison is continuing to break new ground in pic fedding this year, with the World Tag League. Taking its inspiration from AJPW's "Real World Tag League" and NJPW's "G1 Climax Tag League", Ring of Poison will pit 7 tag teams against each other for the chance to be crowned the winner of the first ever ROP World Tag League, and earn a shot at the ROP Tag Team Championships!
THE WORLD'S GREATEST TAG TEAM
Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin, The World's Greatest Tag Team have recently been making waves in the world of independent professional wreslting, winning the Ring of Honor tag belts, and now these two highly skilled young athletes return to ROP to compete in the World Tag League. Without a doubt the most experienced team in the competition, it seems it will take a strong push from anyone to defeat The World's Greatest Tag Team!
THE COLON BROTHERS
Carlito and Primo, The Colon Brothers, were the first team to announce their participation in the World Tag League, and are one of the most dangerous. Former WWE Tag Team Champions, Carlito and Primo have grown up together, and have a much stronger bond than any of the other teams in the tournament. Will they Puerto Rican pair be able to use their close connection and experience to rise to the top?
WILLIAM REGAL &
One of the most experienced members of the ROP locker-room, William Regal seemed to express quite the interest in the World Tag League when Zack Ryder introduced him to the idea, and the British Brawler wasted no time in submitting his entry into the tournament. Regal was coy over who his partner would be, claiming that all would be revealed when they compete in their first match. Who has Regal found to team up with him, and will their combination be able to win the World Tag League?
BRIAN KENDRICK & PAUL LONDON
Paul London made his return to ROP at "Still Crazy", teaming with Brian Kendrick to take on Ultimo Dragon and Dragon el Tire. Kendrick's feud with Dragon el Tire is still raging, but will The Man With The Plan be able to focus his attentions on both the World Tag League and his mission to expose the identity of Dragon el Tire. There's no doubting this team's skill and experience, but will these two slightly unhinged individuals find success in the World Tag League, whilst they also continue to tangle with Dragon el Tire?
THE ALL NIGHT EXPRESS
Rhett Titus and Kenny King, the All Night Express, first debuted in ROP under the tutelage of the late, great Larry Sweeney, but have now found success under the wing of "The King of Old School" Steve Corino. In their first outing as Corino's charges, they defeated Zack Ryder and Jonathan Gresham, giving them some valuable momentum heading into the World Tag League. With the invaluable knowledge and guile of Corino, how will the young guns of the All Night Express fare?
AGE OF THE FALL
Age of the Fall leader Jimmy Jacobs will miss no opportunity to grab more glory for his stable of misfits, and was quick to enter the "little and large" combination of the monster Burchill, and the renegade CHIKARA trainee Vin Gerard into the tournament. Will the unique combination of power and speed be enough to ensure success in the World Tag League?
ZACK RYDER & JONATHAN GRESHAM
The last team entered in the World Tag League is the newest team on the block, the unlikely duo of "Long Island Iced Z" Zack Ryder and his new "best broski" Jonathan Gresham. The pair came up on the losing end in their first outing, but the ROP fans appear to be quickly taking this team to their heart. Will the unlikely duo be able to eventually find the right combination for victory? Will they defy the odds and win the World Tag League, or even a match?
The World Tag League will operate in a league format, with 2 points awarded for a win, 1 point awarded to each team for a draw and 0 points for a loss. The matches will take place on Poison TV, and Ring of Poison events throughout the rest of 2011. The first match announced, and taking place on the next edition of Poison TV is...
