When I think attitude, I think epic stroylines. But I would like to reminisce on some of the great, underapprciated matches that took place beside them.

In Jericho's book he said that he thought that triple threat match was mediocre.

WM16 - HHH vs Rcok vs Foley vs Big Show
I've never understood why people are so down on this match. Besides for the terrible ending(Rock should have won), the match wasn't that bad. Big Show could have lasted alittle longer, but Foley put on a good show and finally got to main event a WM, and we did get to see HHH and Rocky go at it for a while. Very underrated match IMO.

Jericho vs Chyna @ Armageddon 1999, hands down Jericho made that match so entertaining despite having to work with Chyna

Why do you think The Rock should've won? Triple H had started the year gaining a lot of heat and this was no different. He was still solidifying himself as a main eventer, and being the first ever heel to walk out WrestleMania as the World Champion added a lot to it, not to mention the surprise factor it gave.

He was still solidifying himself as a main eventer, and being the first ever heel to walk out WrestleMania as the World Champion added a lot to it, not to mention the surprise factor it gave. Because Rocky had been chasing Triple H for the last 5-6 months. He had his ass handed to him tons of times by the McMahon-Helsmly faction and DX during that time, and technically lost his last 2 PPV matches before WM(lost to Big Show at NWO and technically his feet touched the ground first in the Royal Rumble). WM was built to be the night that The Rock finally regained the title and kicked Hunter's ass. Instead, Hunter got a win that he didn't need. Hunter wasn't still solidifying himself as a main eventer. He already was the #1 heel and had won the 6 pack challenege at Unforgiven 1999, then defeated Austin at No Mercy, regained his title from the Big Show, defeated Mick Foley at two straight PPVs, and defeated Rocky mutliple times on Raw and SD. Rocky needed the win more than Hunter IMO. Was Hunter winning a surprise, yeah it was. But to me, it just hurt Rocky's cred.

The Main Event of Backlash 2000 should have been WM16s main event.word is it was meant to be laid out like that with Austin returning to foil the HHH/Steph regime-but they found out Austin wouldnt be cleared so they went the way they did.
they had plenty of time so they pushed the Austin plan back a month.
it marked the second year in a row that Backlash had a bettter main event than WM and involved the same peeps.
the title match at Backlash 2000 had it ALL.
1)SUPER hot crowd 2)odds stacked overwhelmingly against the face 3)excellent crisp action 4)Drama by the bucketload 5)the return of THE man 6)The return didnt hurt Rock
so well booked its beyond belief.

Do you think they did it basically just to attribute to more PPV buys? I mean we all know most people or wrestling fans so to speak will get Mania, but usually Backlash is just the fall out with a bunch of rematches.

It was probably a combo of Austin not being cleared and Vince wanting more buys. I also believe that in one of Foley's books that he said Vince told him that the Rock vs HHH match was too predictable for WM and decided to change it to a fatal-4-way. IMO thats stupid. Hunter had been dominating the main event scene for the past 6 months, and people just wanted to see Rocky kick his ass and take the title. The fatal-4-way was a fine idea, but having Hunter wins was not needed.

Btw, another match for the thread No Mercy 1999- SCSA vs. HHH

Fully Loaded 98 and 99 Rock vs HHH!! 2 awesome encounters that get no love compared to their ladder match at SS98 I find the ladder match they had a bit overrated, i think both matches from Fully loaded were better. The Undertaker vs Mankind IYH 14 Bret Hart vs Stone Cold Steve Austin IYH 14 HHH vs Mankind KOR 1997 Stone Cold vs HBK KOR 1997 Ten-man tag team match from IYH 16 Bret Hart vs The Patriot Ground Zero HBK vs The Undertaker Ground Zero Bret Hart vs The Undertaker One night only HBK vs The British Bulldog One Night Only These are some great matches from 1997.
