I remember waiting for these books to be delivered around this time of the year. I found this while searching for other photos. I hope to find something from around 87-88.

Yes Sears Wish Book, and to my mom if she ever sees this. I told you you should have bought me the whole LJN lineup.

Those old catalogs are pretty special.
Is number 15 a knock off ring?

Those old catalogs are pretty special. Is number 15 a knock off ring? I don't think it was a knock off. It was small and at the time the only thing it was good for was HE-MAN wrestling matches. The AWA figures were rare in my area (or so it seemed at the time) which this was on scale with if you ignore the fact that it was rectangular. It's hard to imagine now that these catalogs was basically our Toy Fair. We didn't have the Internet so we never really knew what was going to be the next "big" thing.

Ahhh, thanks for posting this. I loved those Wish books, they had so much cool stuff in them. That ring is made by the same company that did that bootleg one about 6 years later (can't remember the name off the top of my head). I sold the ring on Ebay a few years ago...it was just good for a carrying case and thats it.

Man, thanks for sharing the Wish Book scan. I used to go through the Wish Book every year as a kid and write down everything I wanted for Christmas... good times. I vaguely remember this page, actually... I know I got my LJN Elizabeth from a Wish Book order.
Nice to see the M.U.S.C.L.E. figures & ring too... I had a ton of those things too. Those were good for trading with friends, since they were cool-looking and there were a bunch of different designs.

Man, it's awesome seeing these kinds of pics again. I'd really like to see some scans from the old Consumers Distributing catalogs because I haven't seen those in AGES. It would be great to see them again after all these years.
Either that or maybe some scans from the weekly circulars from stores like Bargain Harolds, Bi-Way, Stedmans, Wool-Co, and Towers. Now, THOSE would be rare.
