Ok, WWE is now the best after outlasting WCW, leaving WCW as the second best/biggest USA based wrestling company.
At one time Ecw was considered the 3rd, but now with them gone and TNA on the map, who is considered the 3rd best/biggest of all time as it stands now?
1. WWE
2. WCW
3. ECW or TNA
^ Basically what im asking ^
Reason i say USA based is that NJPW and other oriental companys are rather big but not entirely worldwide.

ECW easily.
TNA hasn't done anything that memorable just been around longer than ECW. It may have bigger names then ECW ever had (Flair, Hulk, Angle, Sting, etc) but it never had to compete with anyone for talent other than WWE. ROH is a distant third in terms of brand awareness & mainstream and is not really considered a rival to TNA in my eyes.
ECW had to compete with WWF & mega rich WCW for talent back in the day during a super hot period of wrestling. ECW's violence & innovation was stolen by WWF to create the Attitude era. ECW also created many of its own stars Taz, Sabu, RVD, Dreamer, Raven just to name a few.

I must agree where ECW had much more to compete against and WCW / WWF were constant threats ECW was Lucky to survive as long as far as it did. TNA however is No threat to vince and just a second home now for ex-wcw/wwe stars so theres no real inovation other than perhapps the x-division, which is a glorified luchalibre-cruiserweight division. All in my opinion however.  |

TNA' s X-Division is their best selling point, but Heyman introduced the likes of Mysterio, Psichosis, Juventud Guerrera etc to the U.S wrestling market back in 1994. These guys were then stolen by WCW and rebranded the Cruiserweight Division. Hardly pioneering by TNA.

I have to go ECW and heres why.
ECWs storytelling,Style and talent influenced the big two HUGELY from 96 onwards.its indisputable.......
TNA has been around longer but it didnt influence anything.just rehashed stuff-sometimes very well but other times.....not so much.

All time? AWA no questions asked. They were far far far superior to ECW or TNA  ECW and TNA have both put out their share of guys but AWA developed stars like Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Andre The Giant, Bobby Heenan, Gene Okerlund and tons and tons and tons more. |

TNA have Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair, and had a show that competed with WWE Raw. It didn't work, but still.

ECW at its peak didn't have PPV, a video game license or action figures, but later did, all within seven years.
TNA has had that too, but doesn't have the brand awareness that ECW did at the height of the Monday Night Wars (where Paul's ideas as others have said were ripped off and fashioned in the manners Vince and Eric desired)

TNA and here is why, a random person on the street is more likely to have hit impact when channel surfing than when ecw was on tv briefly.

If yall are talking all time then I think it would have to be AWA. Maybe I am missing the point of the question. But like the earlier poster said just look at the people who wrestled up there.
Then I feel like ECW would be #4, of course that is saying JCP and WCW are the same, which I do. Then TNA possibly #5.
But best and biggest is also two different things. World Class was better than TNA, but not bigger, and ECW wasn't bigger than TNA is now either.

ecw. the american wrestling market was thriving during ecw's reign, so it's etched in most post-fans of that era's minds much moreso than any current product.

AWA would be the #3 US wrestling organization of all time since it was around for decades before shutting down in 1990. As for ECW vs TNA, ECW was far more influential

From the question at the start of the thread, its ECW. They had more influence on the business than most others.
I love TNA and want them to succeed, but since dropping the X-Division, what once made them stand out is now their biggest detriment (think I spelled that wrong). They're trying to make a run with it at the D-X PPV but I don't know that it will stick like everyone hopes.

3rd would be AWA (despite how crappy they were at the end, they were a legit powerhouse for a long time).
4th is ECW, then 5th is TNA.
TNA is a better run business than ECW ever was (not saying much) but ECW was far more impactful and progressive with its product. In its day, the original ECW was a trend setter. 10 years later it's almost gained mythical status. TNA has had impressive longevity and some good action, but not nearly as influential to the genre as ECW was.
