I only ever saw him back in '98 with Sable/Jacqueline, but I was a fan.

kinda funny to look back and think he's was brought in for more money than both Steve Austin and Mankind.... he was? wow........ yeah,Foley talked about it in his book, how Mero was making a significantly higher amount of money than he was when they brought him in ,and considering he also said Austin was making comparable money to him (Foley) before Austin took off in the winter of 1996/1997,there you go.... it was apparently a sore subject with Foley til it was "corrected" later on,as he makes a few jabs about the situation in his book... i can kinda see McMahon's point here...i mean, you bring in Austin, who was a mid-carder in WCW,and was just getting over a serious knee injury, and just spent some time in ECW...he hadn't proven himself yet to be an elite guy...and he was probably worried about that knee,too... Foley just came in from several years in ECW and the independents and hadn't been on national television in quite a while... then you had Mero, with a great body and a great look, bringing in his gorgeous wife with him,and had been on TBS for years and was over with the fans.... when he packaged them as the "new" Macho Man and Elizabeth, Vince probably thought the sky was the limit....

I loved the later Johnny B Badd gimmick and thought his Wildman gimmick was a take of (attire-wise) Badd. Hated his in-ring work as a heel boxer, but thought he was Marvelous as a heel during that time.

He was an amazing wrestler in the WWF in 1996, but once he got injured in 97' and returned later that year...he had just lost a lot of the outstanding ability he had and became uninteresting. He made a decent cowardly heel, but the storyline with Sable made him useless.
