What are everyones thoughts on Marc? I was watching some footage back in 98 and I think he was pretty good in the ring
He recently came to my school to speak about his entire life story and I almost cried. His brother, mother, and father all died in all a short period of time and I'm not gonna lie I was about to cry. There were other people crying. I met him and got his autograph and spoke to him for about 2 minutes which is pretty cool. He also came out with the old classic IC title and WCW TV title.

I didn't mind him, but he's probably always going to be remembered for his partnership/feud with Sable.

I remember being excited at his debut at WM12 as The Wildman.
obviously I recognised his as Johnny B Badd and knew he could go.Vince seemed to go off him quickly though.....

I never cared for any of his WWF gimmicks. I much preferred this:

He'll always be Johnny B Badd to me. His Little Richard impersonation was dead on.

I liked Johnny B. Badd more for some reason.

I loved when I was a kid, hated him when he revealed how much of a shithead he is during the Benoit media coverage.

His Wildman gimmick was an obvious imitation of Macho Man and did not deserve his big push at all. His boxing gimmick was the only time he was ever entertaining.

The Wildman gimmick was derailed by his untimely knee injury, which then eventually led to the creation of the Marvelous heel boxer character when he returned later that year, but I wonder what would have happened if he hadn't torn his ACL?
Do you think he would've retained the IC belt at any point throughout 1997? Does he become a jobber to the stars sooner rather than later? Would he still turn heel on Sable, just without the gimmick change (maybe a more stripped down Wildman look?)?
The feud with Sable saved his career and became his defining moment, but his in-ring work wasn't as good after the injury, in my opinion. Sure, he had the heel persona down opposite Sable in the storyline, but he never really put on any memorable matches that didn't involve his wife.
It's a bad comparison, I know, but it's almost like if Randy Savage was overcome by the popularity of Elizabeth in the late 80s/early 90s and he could never recover from it. That was Mero in a nutshell; he needed Sable to get over during that era, but he had few redeeming qualities that could keep him there once the Sable feud was over.
I don't remember a whole lot about the Johnny B. Badd gimmick or any particular matches he was in, other than the Little Richard impersonation and his OSFTM WCW wrestling figure, but I always thought it was the best look for him.

I took this at the Meadowlands Arena in NJ back in 91 or 92. He lost to Cactus Jack by countout. For a crappy camera, it's one of the better pictures I've ever taken.

I liked Mero, but he was never really the same after the knee injury and when he dropped the Wildman gimmick.
