getting my Legends 5 Bigelow figure has me reminiscing about him....
for those too young to remember (or just plain old didn't watch WWF in 1987) ,Bam Bam entered the WWF with much fanfare in the summer of 1987...lots of promo's...lots of hype.... a lot of fuss was made over his look, and especially his aerial and agility skills for someone his size....they even did one of those "Manager lineup" things where all the managers at the time were vying for his services, only for him to pick someone new (Sir Oliver Humperdink) and firmly cement his place as one of the companies top face's....Hell,he was in the main event of the first Survivor Series,as part of Hogan's team! and he was even the last Survivor on the team ,eliminating 2 member's of Andre's team before falling victim to the Giant himself...
yet,by early 1988 he had become an afterthought...one of his last televised matches was at WM IV in the title tournament, where he lost to One Man Gang in the first round...shortly thereafter he was gone, and resurfaced in the NWA....
my question is,why? he had a ton of momentum, was seriously over, had a great look and skills, and was in or involved with main-event feud's...only to become a jobber a few months later....anyone know why Vince soured on him so quickly?
i mean,what happened?!

I dont think Vince soured on him folks..... Bigelow badly injured his knee in December of 87 but opted to perform all through WM season and beyond to elevate his fellow performers on the roster. he parted with Vince on good terms to have surgery on what was now a pretty serious knee injury in May of 88.he resurfaced in NWA in late 88 briefly before returning to Japan. Vinces respect for him surfaced again when he was chosen to do the Lawrence Taylor angle. Bam Bam was a in legend.best big man worker ever.cant wait to get his Legends 5 figure

okay...thanks! i honestly didn't know about the knee injury...i just knew he suddenly was losing a ton of matches, then he dissappeared for a long time before resurfacing in the NWA....thought maybe Vince soured on him,or he pissed Vince off or something...

I heard around a lot that he was fired due to bad behavior (as a greenhorn, he was said to be quite arrogant).

That was due to a knee injury. I'm still trying to figure out why his push into the main event scene alongside Diesel led to him being out of the WWF a few months later. I'm still POed at Vince for letting LT (an out-of-shape LT at that) go over Bam Bam at WM.

I'm sure the Clique had something to do with Bam Bam's 1995 push ending.

Bam Bam Bigelow is a guy I just watch and think of how great of a career he could've had, but yeah, politics destroyed many.

Really weird to think of HBK acting like that, after looking how he wanted to put guys over for the past few years.

So why couldn't WWE find something to do with Bam Bam after the 2DWA were reunited? I know HBK & Diesel were pulling strings back then (and Bam Bam has said he loathes Scott Hall) but were Bam Bam's propsects so dim that nothing could be worked out at all? Anyone seen him explain this?

I think he just got pissed off.he rpobably seen he as going nowhere and was to become a jobber to the inbound heels.I bet if he had stayed aroudn he would have been jobbed out to Vader as well
Summer of 95 revolved around 3 guys-HBK,Diesel and Razor Ramon.
