Well, I was looking through the WWE Encyclopedia and I saw something interesting. Under Vincent J. McMahon it states that at first McMahon was going to pass the company on to Gorilla Monsoon, but Vince K. McMahon was able to convince him to take over. Now, I assume this is true since it's written by WWE it self, and I'd see no reason why to lie about it. So, what do you think wrestling would be like if Monsoon took over?
I'd think wrestling would be VERY different, and there would be no Wrestlemania.

I would think the WWE would be more territorial and the industry would be lesser known if you get what I mean. The entertainment side wouldnt be tapped into as much.

None of us would be watching...wrestling would not be the same as it is today in any way, shape or form, Vince took the wrestling world and turned it upside down, changed it completely. Now if Vince Jr. would have worked with Monsoon, which probably would have been the case, than who knows? It still wouldn't be close to what it is today.

Very much doubt wrestling would have been what it was when he took over, and what it is today.

Well for one the NWA would still be involved in the WWF that's for sure as Gorilla was one of those guys who went for tradition.

its a hard concept to grasp.as stated by nearly everyone things would have been much different in the 80s and 90s......not to mention the late 90s.

Perhaps Gorilla would still have had Vince, Jr. in a somewhat powerful role, and from there it would have been inevitable that Vince, Jr. end up in control anyway.

IMO, wrestling would still be 'wrestling', the notion of 'sports entertainment' would be better suited to monster truck shows, Krusty Demon-type bike stuff and Japanese obstacle course shows like Ninja Warrior.
Vince truly changed the landscape of pro wrestling and what it means to be entertained via television and PPV, he created the template that just about everybody else follows...marrying MTV and the WWF in the '80s with the whole Rock N Wrestling was a masterstroke, but in one fell swoop, the territories dried up and became a non-issue...
I guess that begs another question, where does wrestling evolve to now?
