Okay, so Im thinking Wrestlemania isnt far away so Im gonna have me a wrestlemania marathon, Im on Wrestlemania 4, then wrestlemania 5 and I noticed theyve dubbed over some of the awesome entrance themes they had. I know Hogan used Eye of the Tiger and Steamboat used a theme by Alan Parsons project, I get why they would dub over that due to licencing etc. But whats really annoyed me is that they have dubbed over the old Demolition theme (Demolition Daze) and the Twin Towers and Slick theme (Jive Soul Bro) which is confusing considdering the fact that they own those themes, along with some other. Can anybody clarify why WWE have done this?

Maybe the WWE did not properly secure the copyrights.

As for Slick's Jive Soul Bro, I think maybe it's due to Slick actually performing the song, perhaps they would have had to pay him royalties, and decided to go the cheaper route by just dubbing over.

Demolition Man? To quote Miz (and SNL)... Really!?! WWE owns both Slick's "Jive Soul Bro" and Demolition's theme. Those DVD's must have been produced at some point where WWE was arguing with Jimmy Hart over the rights to the songs he help create.
On a related note, I picked up the first part of the Survivor Series anthology a couple days ago and have been watching those. While Steamboat's theme is still dubbed over, both Demolition and Slick themes are in tact.

no, WWE owns the Demolition gimmick, there was a big lawsuit a while back with Bill Eadie (Ax) and WWE, Eadie claimed he created the gimmick and he owned it, and WWE claimed the rights were there property and WWE won.
Even with Slick singing the lyrics its still there property because it was done under there "label" Theres loads of themes dubbed over, another one is Superfly, and Godwins "Dont go messin with a country boy.
I actually cant think of any reason as to why WWE would do this to some of the most iconic themes.

whoa!!that would piss me off.
Demolitions tune is intact on any DVD I have that features them.
I noticed that Biker Taker suffers from this the most on retrospective DVDs....Kid Rock and Limp Bizkits tunes were important to the character.
I also noticed on Mick Foleys DVD his Cactus Jack music is intact-but on the Royal Rumble boxset its different.......

FWIW, Epic Records owned Demolition Daze and Jive Soul Bro when the WWE started remastering the WrestleMania Anthology sets in 2003-2004. The WWE purchased the rights to Demoltion Daze when they were compiling the Royal Rumble Anthology. Same deal with Jive Soul Bro on the SummerSlam Anthology.
As for songs like Siruis by The Alan Parsons Project and some of the songs that Jimmy Hart composed , they couldn't get the rights to those when the anthology sets sere being edited. I have a near full list of songs that were dubbed over on all four anthology sets.

I have a question....how come in games like "Legends of Wrestlemania" and "SVR '11" for The Bulldog they don't use "Rule Britannia" by Leonard Bernstein & the New York Philharmonic, but a rerecorded version by Jim Johnston called "New Britannia?"
