When could WCW have been saved?

It was impossible to save simply because AOL didnt want the money pit on their clock. However, there is a lot of things I would have changed if I could....

1)Going back to the Crockett days, I would have never worked in the big northern cities. WWF had locks on places like MSG and The Spectrum. It wasnt worth it to go up there and sell 5000 (if that) at some hole in the wall arena in NYC or Philly.

2)Never, under any circumstances, would have let Flair, Anderson, Blanchard, Windham and Luger leave my company

3)When Crocket started expanding his territories, I would have made a larger attempt at getting WCCW. He had gone as far south as he could and already had Mid-South. Expand in easier directions without having to face McMahon. Prepare your troops before you go to battle.

4)Clash of Champion events were amazing but I would have limited them to maybe 1-2 a year. Realistically, there were PPV caliber events that were being given away for free. Some compare it to SNME but SNME had around 3-4 matches where CofC would do 10+

5)Moving on to the mid 90s. I would have never given an guaranteed contract to anyone not named....Hogan, Flair, Sting, Luger, or Savage.

6)The nWo would have never had anymore then 6 members (Hogan, Hall, Nash, Giant, DiBiase, Syxx) with the only exception of HHH or HBK coming available.

7)I would have never changed Sting's look drastically. People like bright vibrant colors. Its human nature. Just look at how we choose the high quality tvs, Events have bright lights, pyro and going HD etc. The simple black/white made Sting really bland and as soon as the Sting vs nWo storyline peaked at Starrcade, he fell into mediocrity.

8)Finally as stars like Hogan and Flair aged, I would have phased them out more and started pushing younger guys. Instead as we pushed out 50yo Ric Flair and 45yo Hulk Hogan, we pushed 40yo DDP and 35yo broken down Shane Douglas while younger guys like Benoit, Jericho, Mysterio, Malenko etc were held to curtain jerkers

Goldberg and DDP were very much so over with the fans and drew a craptonne. DDP was sort of aging by then but he was still pretty good. Goldberg was in his 20's a massive draw. He was slightly whorey but not as bad as Nash and Hollywood Hogan went onto be.

Nash at the time of him becoming a top guy was in his forties and getting on a bit. He was still a huge draw though being a part of the nWo.

All these guys were top stars for good reasons.

To be technical, Goldberg was in his early-mid 30s from his debut until WCW ended.

It wasn't the fact they brought Vince Russo in, it's that he booked himself to be champ and thought he was the ing Pope.

When the Wolfpac was formed around that time. I would have booked a wild Chris Jericho-Ric Flair feud or Randy Savage-Jericho something involing Jericho.

WCW screwed up big time at Starcade 1997 and that was the begining of WCW's downfall IMO. People just wanted to see Sting kick Hogan's ass and cleanly win the title. Instead, Hogan used his backstage power to totally screw over the fans w/ that terrible match and dirty win Sting got. To make matters worse, they stripped Sting of the title the next night and everything, from in-ring wrestling to the storylines, went to hell.

I know that backstage powers wouldn't allow this to happen, but I would have booked Sting to have cleanly defeated Hogan at Starcade. Over the next year, I'd have built him, Goldberg, and Bret Hart as the top guys in the company. Bret was just entering WCW and had all of the momentum in the world after the screwjob and I would have done a storyline where he wanted to prove he is still the best and would have been booked as dominating his opponents. Goldberg would have still gone onto his win streak but wouldn't have won the title from Hogan like he did. Sting would also have held the world title all year. These three would be kept away from eachother until the end of the year. Sting and Hart would have entered a feud a few months before Starcade, where Hogan would have screwed Hart out of the title, which would have led to Sting vs Goldberg at Starcade 1998 where Goldberg would have won and continued his streak. My Starcade 1998 card would have looked like...

To me, the dirty ending to Starrcade 97 and all of that BS that went on at Bash at the Beach 2000.

Although nothing could've saved it because of AOL, those were the 2 major points I can think of that really hurt WCW.
