So there's been a bit of discussion over on john's show about how pic feds are booked. Obviously someone's show isn't the place to have this discussion, but the discussion board seems entirely adequate.
So, how would you describe your pic fed booking? Who are your inspirations? And, what do you think of other pic fed's booking? Obviously, don't name names, I don't want this turning into a flame war, rather a civil discussion, with maybe a little bit of debate. Let's try and keep this thread open!

How would you describe your pic fed booking? My Pic Fed Booking is based on things I want to see and eras that I like. I have a variety of different match types on the card similar to how TNA did several years ago. Who are your inspirations?Well, I was inspired by brm, Mikey, and The Warsman. What do you think of other pic fed's booking?I think others have great booking and I enjoy the Booking of shows such as brm or Mikey's show because I know it will be a great show. For people in the TWA I know that they will have a good show because they have really good grudges and feuds although I don't like having jobbers be on each show that are beat nonstop. Can't they just have 123 Kid show up.

- I make sure each character in my fed remains strong, just like things were done during the era that my fed is based on.
- Jobbers are used to put over the roster in weekly show squash matches.
- 99% of the big matches will take place on big shows.
- Angles are drawn out properly.
- Titles are not passed around.

How do you define angles being drawn out properly? What sort of length do you go for, do you base it on how the viewers respond?

I book my shows based on the era that they were in hence the classic motif. I try and stay as true to the history of the fed I am emulating and the charachters style as much as possible with the shows being some squash matches to build up the main eventers as much as possible. As this episode of the A.W.A is only my fourth one I am still trying to introduce many of my stars on the roster. Each upcoming week I will introduce new faces until I can start to establish feuds. Martel and Saito will be one as will a few others. Its more of a slow boil than a microwave flash. Thats how it was done back then and I liked it, it kept me intereted in feuds, which was the way pro wrestling was booked for years and years. If it seems boring and or dull well I can only hope I am doing something that people like. I am not going to have four main event matches on every show at this time until I establish everyone. Heck you guys still havent seen at least half the roster for the A.W.A yet.

One guys chateu' brion is another mans meatloaf so I do what I like to see and hopefully others will enjoy it. If you let peoples opinions sway what you do you compromise where you want to go with your stuff. Besides some guys just spam stuff to throw a monkey wrench in you fed and we cant let that happen now can we?

I draw my feuds out for as long as possible, and try to add layers to each feud. Back in the day it was not unusual for an individual to be embroiled in a rivalry with several different people at once, and anyone who follows my show can see that being played out.

Back in our time machine throwback feds feuds were drawn out for awhile. Look at flair vs rhodes, hogan and piper, freebirds and the von erichs. They went for all they had to offer, sure sometimes it might get stale but thats up to the creator of the fed to come up with new ideas and such. Great poses, great setups and great custom figs which push your presentation into the stratosphere is what i like. I mean if your not a fan of lets say Nick Bockwinkle than what do you care if he's wrestling a no name jobber or some other classic superstar that you done care for either. Its all about your preference, but to me a good show is a good show. Mikey let me ask you something, when you come on here what do you want to see in a fed? I mean this conversation is kinda moot anyway as each viewer has his or her own preferences and friends who's feds they watch anyways. Someone can come on here and make the best show ever, but if you dont care for that person your not going to like his show anyway.

Although I do prefer feds that have really good storylines, the kind of feds that make me excited for the next show.

Like my CM Punk/Raven feud, if people had been like "Aww, it's Raven again..." I probably would have changed how the feud would run so I could get Raven out the picture etc.

If you can make a life like presentation to me thats a success, anyone can emulate a good feud or storyline all you have to do is copy what happened in some particular era of pro wrestling. Unless you have a totally made up fed with totally made up guys no one has ever seen before basically we are all just copying the real life feuds and storylines.

Of course your not going to care what happens to guys that you never saw wrestle and have no emotional tie to. I mean I could care less who Ken Kennedy wrestles or feuds with, same with Mike Quackenbush or Randy Orton, just the same way most kids on the board dont want to see Jerry Blackwell or Wahoo McDaniels.

I think the storylines and or feuds are where everyone differs. I see guys lavish praise on guys feds with feuds that i find tryte and vassal. I also see guys hard work get trashed by others who just dont like that particular person. Like I said before storylines and commantary can be ripped off of any pro wrestling storyline out there, its the presentation of your actual picture fed that draws people in. Some guys have great poses, others not so much. Some guys have great setups, others not so much. Others have storylines that draw people in cause thats what that person likes and they will be drawn to it, other guys dont. Like I said its all a barroom debate anyway, its what the individual thinks is cool that wins out at the end of the day.

Exactly. I just think it's cool to gauge opinions on the board, and who knows, maybe some guys will pick up some pointers from it and use them to improve their fed.

When booking in the past, I've always made sure to try and book characters who would have good chemistry both in the ring and on the mic against each other, and to try and have moments that if the pic fed was a real show, would make you want to tune in next week to see what happens next.

I think there is some merit in trying to get people to enjoy the "product" that you put out. I have to do things that are interesting to me, otherwise, why do it... However, if I can make other people interested and get them to enjoy something that they may otherwise not normally like, then I've done my job.

I agree with you, as I like to put guys together that I think would be compatible, but could you please link me to some of the shows you have booked in the past?
