What was everyone's opinion of this. Austin and Triple H seemed such a great Idea and a heel Austin was badass. Did everyone like this or dislike it? What do you think would have happened if Triple H hadn't got injured?
I personally loved the two together and often wonder what would have happened if Triple H hadn't got injured that night

I think that Austin would have gotten fed up with HHH and would have turned on him by the middle of the summer, setting up a match between the two at Summerslam.

Loved the whole thing, well looking back it was great, and I belive that it was going to be Triple H and Rock heading the WWF and Taker and Austin heading The Alliance, or atleast that's what I've heard from rumors, so I'm guessing it was have broken up during the Summer or so

I loved it and if Triple H had not been injured those two would have ended up having the main event of Summerslam 2001

I didn't like it, it always seemed kinda strange to me. Sure it was entertaining, but I just couldn't really get into it for some reason. Austin's heel run lasted less than a year but it felt like more than that...at the time I just wanted the old Stone Cold back...

Loved the Power Trip. Possibly my favourite team of all time.
If HHH had not gotten injured, he probably would've lead the Alliance with Austin/Shane/Steph.

I liked them, they were good against the likes of Benoit/Jericho, Undertaker/Kane, etc, but storyline wise it didn't make too much sense, seeing how Triple H was revealed to be the mastermind behind Rikishi running down Austin.
But then again, it's sports entertainment, eh?

Ah yeah I loved it. Those were the days.....I think that if Triple H would not have gotten injured, that he would've been one of the main players in the Invasion obviously not going to team WCW and going against Austin.

It never quite clicked for me. I could never "believe" the guy that I watched as the most fearless badass son of a bitch for years instantly turning into a pansy that runs away from a fight. That may be Heel 101, but Austin NEVER did that when he was a heel in 1996-1997. It just wasn't Austin. I never believed it, therefore never got behind the angle. In my opinion, if Austin maintained the evil, badass edge, that would have been so much better. Austin's badass heel stuff ended WAY too quickly. Wrecking The Rock twice: Badass. Beating up Team Extreme with a chair- Awesome. Beating up JR- Cool. But he turned into a puddle of goop within 2 months.
If H didn't get hurt, Maybe H and Austin would have been babyfaces heading into InVasion like Austin ended up doing, but then turning, leaving to WCW/ECW with Stephanie. It'd be easy to write.
Then we have Angle, The Rock, Undertaker, Vince trying to take down Triple H, Austin, Booker, Stephanie & the rest. They could say they used Vince to get back to the top, and Steph persuaded the Two Man Power Trip to leave the WWF for more money on the WCW/ECW side.

it would have probably lead to a break up between the two. with the rock coming back to "whip their candy asses" thus finally getting the triple threat match between them.

i agree that the deformation of the stone cold character was a bad mood - although many liked the kurt angle/steve austin antics of the pre to mid invasion era, i always thought they were demeaning to a character who wouldn't have been caught dead doing that.
it's like what bret hart says about the hitman character in wrestling with shadows - there is a lot of things he refused to do with the character once it was developed, because it was figuratively committing suicide.

Austin's last great run before ''What?'' ruined him.
