Was hbk asking wwe to bring him back or was wwe wanting to bring him back Shawn wanted to have one last match against Triple H... that's all I really know. Of course after that Match Shawn wanted to wrestle one more after that and then one more after that until he was basically full time again.

probably felt he had a lot left to give, as it was apparent he did...and he figured no one would care about the back injury lie by then.

Given that he and Hunter knew each other so well (and Hunter obviously had no problem jobbing), they decided to do it against one another. After the match, HBK's back felt so good that he decided to try a return. Obviously, it worked but Shawn had some character bugs to work out. He intially wanted to break all ties with the "Heartbreak Kid" gimmick but the fans knew and loved that character (or loved to hate it) too much.

I was delighted he won the EC in 2002 and effin crushed when he lost it one month after.
HBK had the most amazing series ever after his return.
vs HHH vs Angle vs Undertaker vs Orton vs Jericho
and also got great matches from Cena and Batista......a career feat in itself.

I totally agree. I really wish HBK would have consented to one more title run. HHH, Vince, and Cena all tried to convince him to no avail. Just a short one, preferably winning it at WM, would have been fine. I also wish he could have worked an entire feud with RVD. Their match on RAW was good but they were unfamiliar with one another and it showed.

man I would have loved one more HBK run.....beating Cena at WM was the time for it to happen for me.....
also HBKs(blood soaked) performance at Survivor Series 2003 as part of Team Austinserious dram in the outnumbered bloodied HBK whittling away Team Bischoffs numbers.

Ha, the back injury was a lie, good one man. well it was obviously not as severe as he made it out to be, considering he went on to jump all over the ing place and take endless back bumps for 8 years and is known for faking injuries. so yea, it is a fairly good point eh?

Injuries heal. Using your logic then Triple H's quad tear was fake, same with Angle's broken neck, Cena's Pec tear, etc since they've all since wrestled a good number of matches since

nay, cause none of them have a known history of blowing an injury out of proportion.
and there is already skepticism over the injury, i'm not alone in it.

Two reasons that I think there is zero chance that his back injury was faked: At WM 14, it effected the way he moved. About 1/2 through the match, his back locks up outside the ring, he screams, then he can't bend over for the rest of the match. Shawn's ego wouldn't have let him do anything to diminish a match's look unless he had no choice. Secondly, I really think he would have come back sooner had the injury not been legit. He would have performed for larger audiences and made more money in the Attitude Era.

The injury not legit? Lmao.
It was not a work of any kind. It kept him out of action as long as it did simply because of the severity. Michael's ego + passion for the business wouldn't have kept him away as long as it did.
Check out the backstage video following his return match against Hunter. He was in terrible pain.

i'm not saying he didn't hurt his back at all, the way he landed on that casket was evidence enough. i'm saying he exaggerated the severity of it hugely.
as someone who has injured their back, i believe that if he'd suffered an injury as bad as believed, he NEVER would've been able to return for the amount of time he did nor take the bumps he did.

probably felt he had a lot left to give, as it was apparent he did...and he figured no one would care about the back injury lie by then. Bret wrestled alright this past year, his stroke was a work.
