This just has to be seen to be believed.
A REAL lawyer cut a promo-style character witness deposition for Khosrow Vasiri a.k.a. The Iron Sheik for a REAL lawsuit brought against him for assault.
Character witnesses include: Classy Freddie Blassie, Mean Gene Okerlund, Capt. Lou Albano, Bobby the Brain Heenan and Cyndi Lauper. That's right, kayfabe be damned, faces and heels working together to keep Sheiky baby out of jail!
Awesome!

Great find. Anybody know more about the circumstances or the outcome of this case?

Great find. Anybody know more about the circumstances or the outcome of this case? The lawyer here (Mickey Sherman) wrote a book a few years back and talked briefly about representing the Iron Sheik in this case. He knew the judge was a big WWF fan, so he came up with this idea to "interview" these character witnesses WWF-style. He said the judge loved it and the Sheik got off with a slap on the wrist! Gotta love it! ;D Wars

What I wanna know is if this was before the Iorn Sheik/Hacksaw arrest. I'm guess that it is, the reason I ask is because it seems like they sort break Kayfabe, say how he's a stand up guy and such, despite his character being such a major heel.

Yes, this had to be between 1985-86 when Cyndi Lauper was still associated with the WWF. The Hacksaw-Sheik arrest was in mid to late 1987, iirc. Wars

My guess is 1985... aside from the fact that Cyndi Lauper was there, you've also got Fred Blassie (who stopped managing in mid-86) and Lou Albano (who "retired" in September 1986). The color of the background also leads me to believe it was probably 1985.

Sheik actually got released not long after the Duggan incident. Not directly for it, but they ran a drug test and he failed it. this thing is ridiculous. I like that Sheik is in his ring gear
