I was thinking of a way that Martha Hart and the WWE could come to terms about Owen being made into a figure. I don’t think Martha objects to fans honoring Owen’s legacy (e.g. a DVD or an action figure) but she objects to the WWE profiting off of him. Yes, I feel sympathy for her but I hope she understands that fans of Owen want to see him honored as they remember him. I would also say that Owen’s legacy deserves to be honored and what better way of honoring his legacy than buying merchandise to help out the Owen Hart Foundation that Martha established after his death.
An Owen Hart figure would be one of the most highly anticipated figures in all of the legends line. So, have all the profits go to the foundation. The WWE or Mattel would get just a small percentage or nothing at all (I would allow Martha and her lawyers to make out the agreement first in this hypothetical situation).
Plus they could put something on the box that all proceeds from the sale of these figures would go to the foundation.
While economically it might hurt the WWE and Mattel it would be a great thing to do, and fans would enjoy the fact that finally Owen is being recognized.
The same thing could happen with a Hall of Fame induction a percentage of the DVD sales, and Hall of Fame Owen Hart merchandise could go once again to the Foundation.
Now onto Chris Benoit
Benoit rather you like it or not is one of the darkest figures in pro wrestling history he was a great in-ring worker but later in life his actions overshadowed his would be Hall of Fame career, Vince McMahon himself said that the double-murder suicide was the darkest day in WWE history.
But, regardless of Benoit’s actions he still remains as one of the most respected performers of the business. Note: I didn’t say the most respected personality, but fans still rate his in-ring work as one of the best in the modern era.
A Benoit figure would probably not see the light of day, but what if the proceeds of the figure goes into research of sport’s related trauma to the brain. Since the horrible act that Benoit caused was said to be caused by concussions. That is if his father Michael Benoit and family agree to the deal if it ever comes to be.
I know it would be a headache to get Martha Hart and the Benoit Family to agree to it and since the WWE is PG it would probably be impossible to get them to agree with a Chris Benoit figure.
But what do you guys think could and should this happen and would you buy a Benoit figure in light of what he did.

Unless for some reason, it can be proven benoit didn't commit Double Murder-Suicide, we'll never see a Mattel figure of him. There is a small chance of an Owen figure, but I can't see it happening.

The Owen Hart scenerio seems to be the most likely. Maybe an exclusive or something. I'd be more likely to buy one of those with all profits going to charity.

Plus I just thought of something perhaps TNA with JAKKS could produce an Owen Hart figure (the legends line) since Matha Hart isn't signed with the WWE legend contract. Just a thought.

It will never happen. The WWE is trying to put as much distance between them and Benoit as possible. And there's no way Mattel is going to release a Benoit figure because even if the WWE were to OK it that would just leave Mattel open to all kinds of headaches from all types of special interest groups that would boycott them. I'll just pick up another Pillman and make my own Benoit by popping his R3 head on that body.

No, Benoit does not deserve a figure.
And Mattel will never make an Owen.

I'd love an Owen, but it's not going to happen.
However, I DO NOT want a Chris Benoit figure. Others may feel differently, but I just don't see what good making a figure of a murderer would do anyone.

It is safe to say, neither will ever happen from Mattel.
However, I do think it is realistic to think that JAKKS could make an Owen figure at some point.

Mattel aren't going to make an action figure of a child-murderer in the WWE line. The only people who would even be interested in buying it are severely maladjusted oddballs.

Both are very much needed in the line and both will never be made. Best you can do is try for some easy customs.
