Say "I enjoy playing with them, because I pretend it's you" and freak her out.

These kinds of stories have never happened when I've bought any action figures. They're either just polite and just ask if i have or want a bonus card/gift wrap/batteries etc. or on the other end, tired/bored high school or college kids that barely make eye contact. If they started up with me like that, i wouldn't be able to help unloading some mean comeback jokes. Don't let her get to you. If you see her again in there, take the oppurtunity to find some way to fire back at her. DROP THE FIVE JOKES OF DOOM OLOLOLOLOL

Should've said, "You look like a toy.".
I used to collect GI Joe, and one time this cashier screamed out G. I. JJOOOOOOOOEEE! He was digging at me, but he didn't look too good, so I laughed with him.
Do yourself a favor, order from RSC. The anguish of lazy stupid people is worth their premium prices.

This was a good topic, but why are there some people (triple s, chewing etc) who are trying to talk down on those who say they would stand up for them selves? Does it matter if any one here would do what they say here? everyones just having fun....and there really are people who would make some of these responses, like me i dont give a crapabout what people say or think. Bad asses or guys with a lot of confidence don’t only exist in the movies and over the internet.....Unless you know some one on here personally and know that they are lying, don’t underestimate.

I rarely buy figures but who cares? All the replies with what "I" would've done are such BS, haha. Not everybody is that quick witted. I'm sure most would've been like George Constanza.

Lol found a Beth Pheonix figure today, and went to buy it but the number wouldnt ring up. So I had to take the cashier to where the figures were to get the code, she was just a little old lady and it was alright cause she was just minding her own business... She was just doing her job so it was all fine.

I never get asked stuff like that from employees they ask if I'm a collector that's about it but if you're uncomfortable going in there call them and ask to speak with the manager and tell them an employee made you feel uncomfortable and you don't want to go there anymore. If a customer complains about something where they don't want to go back the manager usually does what they can to keep your business. If I were in that situation I more or less would have called the manager when I got home because rather than make a scene or tell them about my life not that it's their business I'd rather get them in trouble so they think twice before making remarks like that to people so it doesn't happen to anyone else

I laughed hard. Thank you for the memory. Only time someone has said something to me was when my girlfriend and I each bought a figure and the lady asked us if we were going to face each other. I told her she always wins. Also one time this older cashier scoffed because I was buying Jericho. That one was fun because she was clearly a fan and was being playful about it. Guess she resents being a gelatinous tapeworm.

Telling a manager doesnt do anything. Chances are they're as low class as the rest of the people that work in crappy retail stores. You should just walk in every day until you see her, get her name and then call corporate. THAT teaches people lessons.

ill be honest im 26 and i used to feel a little ridiculous when i went to buy certain figures but i just mentally got over it, i was at tru once a few years ago and i was buying an adrenaline 2 pack and the dude at the register was easily 40 and he started talking to me about shelton benajmin, then he said do you need a gift receipt and i just said nah man these are for me and he was like oh ok no problem and for a second i was like ehh this is awkward but i didnt even think twice after that everyone has hobbies ive been asked since then and i say they are for my collection plus my fiancee usually comes with me so i have a young attractive girl with me it prevents me from getting asked dumb questions, dont let it bother you man lifes too short

There are some good comeback lines in this thread that people can use if this ever happens to them.

If you didn't care then you wouldn't respond to it. oh of course i would, im not trying to convince anyone about me, im actually standing up for the other people. big difference man.....but that’s all besides the point.....if any ones says anything trying to put you down about your hobbies, show them it doesn’t affect you by joking back, or simply answering yes. i wasn’t there but she might have just been trying to make convo and just used the wrong tone giving the wrong impression. I cant tell when my girl is joking or being serious cuz she never has the im kidding tone.

Honestly, I don't see the point in getting defensive. It's no big deal, laugh it off.
When Basic 1 hit, I was hanging out with a buddy, and we decided to go up to Wal-Mart to get a six pack of beer. I wanted to swing by the toys to see if they had put anything out. To my surprise, they had them all out (no Elites at that point). So I decided to grab two Bourne's (one is still MOC, awaiting the day I can get it autographed) and a RAW ring.
When we got to the counter the girl looked at the beer, and the figures and said, "so uh, what do you gentlemen have in mind for the evening?" Without skipping a beat I said, "gonna get drunk and play with our action figures. Duh." She had a good laugh, I paid, we got the stuff and told her to have a good night and be safe.
Really, you don't HAVE to be embarrassed or get angry.

You should make a point of going back there and being served by her again and see if she says anything again, she might have been having a bad day. I had some woman say to me once " You must have nearly all of these!" , which means I must buy way to many figures lol. But what she said was kinda dumb, cos new ones come out all the time and she worked there, but I just smiled politely and walked off.
Also, the other day I was looking through figures and one of the workers was really cool, asking me if I wanted him to move a big step ladder out of the way so I could get a better look and told me they had new set in that day. So you do get some muppets and some cool people in stores.
