lol @ anyone from today being more entertaining or more over then the warrior was in 1990. his attire alone is greater then the entire roster of today. in 2010 wrestling is bland, boring, and has been lost in the interest of the mass public for years now because of it.

Undertaker was more over in his prime- maybe. Cena and HHH might be more well know to GenPop just because they have hung around the main event scene so long. I can't think of anyone else on the current roster who would rival Warrior in terms of notoriety. The sad thing about the Warrior situation is that he was wildly over, as you say. He could have been the WWE's focal point in the 90s had Hellwig, in real life, not spiraled into a weird cycle of self-absorption. |

He wasn't talented, he hated the business, and he's out of his mind. I do have some favorite moments though, because I was such a huge fan as a kid... But The only things that go beyond nostalgia are Wrestlemania VI and any time he was in the ring with Rick Rude. Now if you want to talk underrated, Rick Rude is it. He almost never gets credit for his in ring talent, yet he had great matches (plural) with Warrior. On the mic he entertained me, mostly because of how insane it was. When he was a guest on Brother Love that was pretty fun... And when he asked what Heenan and Rude have in common with the Liberty Bell was priceless  Oh, and I have to mention the story of him in Andre. Without bogging down too much with detail, he was running full force into Andre for his clotheslines during there feud. Andre got fed up and stuck his fist out one time. Warrior hit it at top speed and was almost knocked unconscious. Next time he went for the clothesline it was a light tap. Andre fell into the ropes, looked back at Heenan and said "boss, I think he's learning." He was also one of the victims of Rude's famous knockout back hand slap, as legend would have it. |

I absolutely loved the Warrior as a kid. He debuted when I was only 7 years old, so some of my earliest memories of watching wrestling are of him. He had a unique charisma and style that made him very appealing to a youngster. I would compare it to somebody who was young when Goldberg was on fire. I mean he squashed Andre and nobody had ever done that before.
I can, however, look back at his run today and see how horrible of a worker and talker he actually was. He was very sloppy in the ring and his interviews were often incomprehendible. By the time he returned in '96, I was no longer a fan. I don't hate the guy or think he was terrible for the business. He was extremely over and was able to pull a decent match every once in a while. He came along at the perfect time to be a star, when roided up monsters with little in ring ability were the guys who got pushed. I don't think he would have been as big a star during any other time period.

It was a little more than an inch or two. Andre wasn't as tall as they billed him but at his tallest (which was around the late 70s, early 80s) he was somewhere between 6'11" and 7'2", depending on who you believe. Hogan has stated that in his 30s, he was a legit 6'6" and now he's 6'4" due to a curvature of the spine. |

Tony Atlas once said that Andre had more than double the amount of teeth that a normal human had. His fingers were also the same circumference as a silver dollar. Think about that the next time you see one of those. Sheesh.  |

Just wanted to chime in and say that The Ultimate Warrior always has been and always will be my favorite wrestler of ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!! I miss the days of being a "Little Warrior"  |

its a pity Hellwig was such a wipe in real life.
even though his title reign was considered a failure Vince was still pushing him like crazy and would have gave him another shot.

Its topics like this that make me hate wrestling fans. Back in 1990 though this man was a GOD. But because Vince released a DVD bashing Warrior, every 12 year old with 20 bucks thinks they know the whole story regarding Warrior. Was the guy an A-Hole? Maybe, Who isnt? Did the guy have passion for wrestling? Thats debatable, I say he had it in unique ways. If you ask me, it would take an awfull lot of dedication to put on the costume he wore day in and day out. The guy knew he wasnt tecnically sound, so he emphasized other areas and like it or not IT WORKED. And anyone who says Warriors WCW promo is bad, obviously hasnt listened to it and listens to Vince and Hogan WAY too much. I have many friends who HATE the Warrior and even they say its one of the better promos in wrestling. People who were'nt wrestling fans back in the early 90;s wont ever see it with Warrior. It was a different time and if you ever want proof, Look at Hogan. Best Warrior post I've ever read. |

Favorite moments - Wrestlemania VI (I was a huge Warrior fan and I was sick of Hogan's run. I jumped off my couch ecstatic when Hogan missed that leg drop. It is a moment I will never forget), every match with Rude and WCW return promo. |

Watching his DVD a few times made me realize just how  ing over this guy was. His promos were the worst, most incoherent pieces of garbage ever, but the fans ate them up like he was Martin Luther King. It was incredible. |

If you were not a fan in the early 1990's you will never "get it". This is so true; I am so thankful that this was the wrestling I experienced as a child instead of the crap that kids have to suffer through today. Of course I'm just assuming it's still crap since I haven't watched it in about 5 years. I just had to go back at watch Hogan/Warrior at WM because I was feeling a little nostalgic |

Warrior back in the day was incredible to me. I was only young and his whole character was amazing. Back then I wasn't looking at how good his wrestling was, just at how crazy and exciting he was. His music, attire with tassles, face paint and rope shaking just made me want to see more and more of him.
When he turned up at the end of Wrestlemania VIII to help out Hogan, I don't think I slept for a week with excitement. I couldn't tell you how many times I've watched that back - Heenan made it classic too.
I don't think there has been anyone as exciting ever since, especially not in the roster now - nowhere near.
I get the impression you had to be there at the time to understand.

Your character and look was basically everything. Warrior was perfect for that era, the best era in my opinion. |
