It's smart business sense, it's to try and bring the Jakks collectors in, I think eventually we'll see Mattel equivalents of the Jakks Classics once they're out of ideas.

Agree with you totally, at some point they will have to make equivalents to the Jakks Classic Superstars and it will be interesting to see who they will make first

Every sereis/set will have repaints. Its how the company deals with them. Jakks released 100 Cenas with the same headscan same shorts same everything. Mattel tries to change things up on them. Look at it this way, people won't complain if they get 4 Warriors with all different gear, people will complain if they get 4 Sgt Slaughters all in the same basic gear. While repaints do suck sometimes they can be a good thing.

To be honest, I love repaints of Superstars, providing they do attires I like of course. Like, Shawn Michaels & Ultimate Warrior for example, they have so many different attires, I wouldn't complain how many times they released them in sets. But, somebody like Cena or Undertaker who rarely change their attire or what they're wearing, then it gets annoying. But, I'll take plenty of repaints of guys that have had so many different attires or differnet colours over the years.

I'm just happy we're finally getting the Iron Sheik I've wanted since CS5. Slaughter is neat, though I want to get an extra one to repaint, either GI Joe Style or NWA black singlet style. Short Hair Rude is great, as are the others. not overly happy with Dusty in polka dots, but it's such a nice looking figure.
However, I do think I'll probably wait for a barefoot Snuka. I may still get this one, but it's not as high on my list.

yeah its pretty cool that they r releasing somewhat obscure attires. something interesting i also noticed is that all the guys in series 1 are best known as babyfaces and all the guys in series 2 are probably best known as heels (except for snuka). im curious to see if this will continue.

Even though I'm not a big fan of the polka dotted Dusty Rhodes era...that figure has become one of my favorite wrestling figs ever. I sit back and admire it everyday.

the ones that have multiple attires they done the ones jakks didnt do! Regarding this poorly constructed sentence, are you saying that Mattel has done the other attires of legends, who have multiple attires, that weren't done by Jakks? Doesn't pokadot Dusty Rhodes contradict your statement? Dusty had two main attires (NWA days, WWF run) and maybe three if you count his retirement years (jeans/jeans shirt). Jakks did his pokadots, Mattel did his pokadots

I mean granted the aren't legends figures, but EG HBK has been done as well I believe as Piper and M$M in those attires. And the above mentiond Dusty Rhodes.
