The best year of build in all aspects, and yes indeed, Starrcade '97 was tosh...but that buildup was incredible, you just can't see that happening anymore...

That's the only feud I've ever liked from WCW. The Fake Sting army was so awesome when I first saw it and then then Sting himself came out and just destroyed the nWo.

the Hogans planet sized Ego orbited into Starrcade 97 and destroyed everything.

This was Bischoffs crowning acheivement to me. Holding the match off for over a year. Building Hogan up as unstoppable and the mystery of Sting made for must see moments and THE must see ppv of 97. Despite how it turned out.

I still can't beleive Bischoff held off FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR to give us the matchup. That's truly good booking. If everything was as booked as well as this was, WCW might still be around.
For example, they really dropped the ball with Goldberg winning the WCW title from Hogan on Nitro.

Starcade 97 was the only WCW PPV we ordered. We had a party to watch Hogan vs Sting. I don't remember much after that, but I knew we were excited to see Sting take down Hogan.
