man I loved Orndorff.
honestly I thought he had it all.the way he moved in the ring, the impact of his moves, his jumping piledriver.
all brilliance.his feud with Hogan was also a friggin classic.

I agree totally. He was one of my favorites until he turned on Hogan, LOL. Making him one of the WCW's trainers was a good move.

I've always loved Orndorff! His feud with Hogan was my first exposure to the WWF back in the mid-80's and I thought he was a great heel.
I can't find the video of him piledriving Hogan anywhere on youtube, but they have their match from The Big Event, which is worth watching.
I also remember them facing each other once on SNME prior to their cage match.

Mr. Wonderful had all the skills to be a great heel world champion but too bad he was in the era where Hogan was never going to drop the belt. Paul would have been a great IC Champ as well but Savage needed that belt to get over more.
Paul could have a great match with anyone and he can kick anyones ass legit. Ain't that right Vader??
Paul is on the short list of great workers to never win the big one.

to my mind Orndorff is the most talented individual to never win ANY title in WWE

Dude, I didn't even realize that he never held ANY gold. What a waste. Had Hogan dropped it to him on SNME in January 87, they would have drawn huge for the rematch at WM3. As big as Hogan and Andre in my opinion.

to my mind Orndorff is the most talented individual to never win ANY title in WWE I could make an argument for Jake Roberts and Terry Taylor (totally serious about the 2nd one too. Taylor is soooo underrated in his ring work)

I was so irate when he turned on Hogan, and the thing is, they telegraphed it for weeks on TV. But Orndorff still played it so well that it got over big time. Then he started walking out to "Real American," which was almost like sacrilege given how popular Hogan was in '86. First he had the gall to deceive and attack Hogan on TV, then he joins up with Bobby Heenan, and THEN he steals the Hulkster's theme song? That was an awesome heel turn. I rank it right up there with Owen Hart turning on Bret Hart, as far as major heel turns being telegraphed for a long time but still working fantastic.

As big as Hogan and Andre in my opinion. you might be right man.that feud had serious effin juice behind it.the heat was definately there for a huge "Hulksters Revenge" and yeah G2,Taylors ring work is overlooked.criminally so

Yeah, Taylor got totally ed by the Rooster gimmick. and honestly he never recovered from it-he was done being taken seriously after that. he had a short run in that York Foundation era but yknow yourselves......it wasnt a good time for WCW

Then he made his forgotten WWF comeback in the early 90's, which accomplished nothing.
Anyway, back to Orndorff. Jericho wrote in his book that when he was in WCW the only advice Orndorff gave him was to get a shiny entrance robe.

Sadly, I wasn't born yet during his run in the WWF.
But I can look back on it and watch video and Orndorff is one of my favorites from that era.

Orndorffs shoot is pretty good too.his stories about the hectic WWF travel schedule 84-86 are insane.
he tells a story about one night they did a TV taping and had to do an arena show later......he and Piper didnt have time to change and had to take a lift to the airport in their trunks

My Mum's second favourite wrestler.
A shame what happened to his arm, and his WCW career, but man, he was a great part of the '80s for me...great look, good heat, and could work quite well. Having the Brain as his manager was a cool move too...
