Can anyone tell me why the crowd was so anti-Rock at Summerslam 2002 in his match against Lesnar? I'm watching it now and there are a number of "Rocky Sucks" and "Let's go Lesnar" chants. Not to mention he gets booed whenever he does a big move. And its not just a few guys either, a major portion of the arena is behind Brock

Well the reason is because most of the WWE fans knew that Rock was more or less going to Hollywood and Brock at the time was so hot and over that the fans took to him over the departing Rock.
Also it's worth noting that whomever Rock would face that the crowd loved just as much or even a bit more (I.E. Hogan or Austin) would go against him and cheer the hell out of the other wrestler.

Let's not rewrite history too much with that last point of yours. Austin/Rock was in texas the only time Rock was a face when these two fought. Rock was more over than Hogan during the whole Hogan/Rock feud until the actual match but that was because it was an 'old school' crowd. Your first point it right however. Brock really started getting cheered like mad just before he won the title and then a little bit afterwards and some fans knew that Rock was on his way out and were at the time, some still being, upset with him. Brock was even cheered somewhat against Taker the next few months also.

The result was in no way in doubt, everybody knew Lesnar was taking the title and Rock was leaving for an extended amount of time once again.
Plus New York crowds will always cheer for the big monster heel against the babyface. Take Sid vs. Shawn in 96 for example.

True, at a Live event it was Umaga vs. Moore and Nunzio, and the whole arena started chanting Umaga! Umaga!

Some fans took it as Rock wanting to "better himself" by breaking away from the wrestling crowd. I believe SS '02 was the creative genesis of his heel turn.

I would have booed The Rock too. There is just something about that guy that I do not like. I also cannot stand the highwater adidas warm ups he used to sport.

It's amazing how his heel turn got the audience right back in the palm of his hands.
