Was the WWF Brawl for All really a legit competition? I know they said it was, but it's one of those things I just always wondered about. Did anybody like the Brawl for All concept? I loved it at the time..But watching it now I kinda think differently

Yep I'd heard legit as well & creative's "hopes" were Dr. Death eventual winner.

Yep, WWF Brawl For All was completely legit. I actually enjoyed it watching back on my 98 RAW's a few months ago.
Bart Gunn FTW

I liked this actually. Any idea why they did it? to try and promote dr stevie as a "legit tough guy". didnt work that well 'cause he lost. also, didnt bart gunn get absolutely killed at WM15 by butterbean?

yup Butterbean killed the crap outta Bart at WM15.
as folks have said previously it was a vehicle to promote Dr Death because no one thought he would lose.the hope was for him to challenge Stone Cold later in the year.......

Yeah Dr. Death was never the same after that. Shame too, cause I had high hopes for him in WWE.

yeah it was nice to watch at the time because, if memory serves me correctly, the wrestlers sort of broke out of character for them matches.
Didnt butterbean kill Bart Gunn and Marc Mero too?

I would never have expected Bart Gunn to make it, let alone knock Bradshaw out. Just goes to show- never underestimate your opponent.

If they brought Brawl for All back I'd like to see Mark Henry, Finlay, Kozlov, Mike Knox and Luke Gallows in it..I doubt WWE would do this again though.

it proved to be as ridiculous an idea as it sounds in concept, injuries were just about all that came from it

It would be a good idea for them to utilize some of the lower card guys who arent being used much @ all.

It would be a good idea for them to utilize some of the lower card guys who arent being used much @ all. And have the stipulation "the winner of the tournament will be employed for one more year. If you lose your match, you lose your job." Sure it sounds cruel, but could you imagine how much better the fights would be?

It was a decent idea that went pearshaped quickly.
Dr Death came in with this insane rep about how hard he was & ended up destroyed by low level bart Gunn destroying his credibility with the fans & reducing him to the role of JR's bodyguard!!
Bart Gunn actually came out of it so well with some big time upset KO's. I always thought that as Vince clearly had a plan for Dr Death after winning the B4A that they should have passed that storyline on to bart Gunn instead. Bart had through the tournament established himself as having killer hands, surely much more could have been done with that. Instead they waited ages, gave him to Butterbean at WM15 expecting a Bart win & yet again got the opposite reaction. This is the problem with promoting shoots is you have no control over the result as Strikeforce learnt this weekend with Jake Shields beating the highly favoured & well paid Dan Henderson!!!
Butterbean still calls his KO of Gunn his favourite KO & if you've seen it you'd know why.
