Do you remember how you felt when the WWF changed its name to WWE? I remember feeling like I was losing a part of my childhood. It just would never be the same. To this day, I feel like it lost something with the name change. What if they never changed the name, I wonder if they would have done anything differently? Probably not.
When they did change the name though, I remember for a brief time, they tried calling it WWFE, then dropped the "F" completely.
However, when they did change the name, I think that that was the moment I officially lost interest in the product they were putting out. They very well could have and probably should have switched names during the "Attitude Era," because that is when wrestling officially changed for me. I watched the WWF up until about 95 and then lost all interest. I stopped then and still have never found anything since then to make me interested in it yet. It is just boring and stale. I enjoy watching old videos alot more than the current product by far.
Anyone else miss the old "WWF" like I do?

How do I feel?? I hated it and still hate it. It'll always be WWF to me, no matter what they call it now. That's like The SkyDome. They changed the name to The Rogers Center, but it'll always be The SkyDome to me. I still call it The SkyDome to this day.

I remember the old WWWF banner and was quite upset in I believe 1979? it was changed because of something fro the old NWA.I thought the shortened banners hanging on All Star Wrestling and Championship Wrestling looking kind of odd. They used to record the shows at the old Hamburg Fieldhouse that was a small venue that also showcased roller derby.Ah,I can remember the popcorn smell hovering across the rickety wood chairs set up on this red painted concrete floor with a basketball court painted on it.So yeah he saddened me about the shortening of the name.Brought a tear to my eye just thinking about it now.

I was real angry when it happened and to this day still call it WWF. A younger guy speaks to me and says WWE and I just look at him like he's said a swear word.
The only thing I did quite like was the slogan "get the f out" - wouldn't see that now in their PG programming.
I agree with Sting - I prefer WWF and like watching old DVDs (currently watching all Royal Rumbles from 1989).
I also made sure I converted all my old VHS Wrestlemanias to DVD just to keep "WWF" in them. I like the Tagged Classics too as they still say WWF.

It bothered me at first but it's really just a name. I'm more used to calling it the WWE than I am the WWF at this point.

I remember the first RAW that had the WWE name. I was in the pool and ran in because I was missing RAW. My phone rang and it was my friend Bobby. He said, "It's not WWF anymore, it's just the WW. Look at the thing in the corner. The F is gone."
I was more upset that I had missed the RVD vs. Jeff Hardy ladder match.
That is a funny memory though.

It only bothers me because when they release older footage, they have to butcher the commentary and blur out the scratch logo.

Hmm not sure how I reacted really, think to me it made me realise there was a significant change going to happen with the company and it really would change to modern day entertainment.

I hated it and honestly it lost something when it lost the F. People can say its just a name but a name means A LOT. When NWA/JCP became WCW it lost a lot. When WWF became it lost a lot.

Moreso with the WWF/E, it, to me, really hammered home that it's not a promotion anymore, it's branded as global entertainment and kids now will never know how 'entertaining' wrestling could be by just being wrestling, needing only great in-ring work and sharp promos. It also signalled the end of serious competition in the business, with any type of 'bragging rights' becoming sole property within the WWE banner. ... So yeah, a tad upset...

I can't stand WWE. It takes some of the willing suspension of disbelief when you're calling the product World Wrestling Entertainment. Entertainment? Geeez, I want Federation. Wrestling, wrestling, wrestling. A federation gave it more credibility, to be honest. Not only that, the stupid logo is odd; why are there two w's? Why not a W, W, and an E? So we're looking at the World Wrestling champion? What about the E, man?
It's a mess. Can't believe that World Wildlife Fund (or whatever) had the rights to the WWF.
Oh, well...

Dislike WWE but I've gotten kind of used to it overtime. Still say WWF a lot but I guess it didn't hurt me as much as others. But I realized the name change also represented a change with the times.

I still think it sucks but obviously I'm over it by now. It should have never had to be changed.

I felt like Vince didn't fight hard enough against the world wildlife fund/foundation. He looked at it like it wasn't a big deal, and that he could have possibly profited from the name change. Bad move Vinnie Mac, bad move.

It didn't bother me. I still call it the WWF. And I totally agree with G2- when the NWA/JCP turned into WCW, it lost something.
