I only read the first sentence of your reply A-Bomb, and the only reason I stopped is because I don't need to go through the whole set of paragraphs to know we're on similar pages. My friend and I could get cartoon images of Tom Selleck tattooed on us. It wouldn't be meaningless simply because we have a long running joke involving him. If you want to get stereotypical, that's when you pull out the "it's a symbol of how strong our friendship is." HELL YEAH MAN! Tattoo TV shows have really put a stigma on the industry... or in the public's head rather, that everything needs some big deep meaning. As long as YOU are happy with it, that's all that matters. ___________________________ Not to derail the thread from the current discussion, but I just had to say how funny it is to me that A LOT of times on this forum I will see someone saying, "ew, she looks terrible with a tattoo!" - Or something along those lines. Yet once I started putting tattooed women in my sig, I got a HUGE flood of PM's asking me who the person is... it's even spread to my FormSpring. - It's just goofy that people will put down someone with tattoos - or write it off as "ugly, disgusting, or not attractive" in a sort of public atmosphere, but secretly like it. I won't name names, but I've seen several people on the forum put down tattooed women, that have gone gaga over some of the ladies I've put in my signature. Anyway, this DOES have a little bit of a point. Mr. PPV had given me a compliment about how bright my ink is, and mentioned CM Punk as well... so I had to share a picture of someone's ink I really, REALLY admire, I originally found this picture for a new member who said she was really pretty. Nice guy, not a douche. Anyway it's the same woman in my sig... Rigel Suicide (with James): I LOVE her sleeve, I'm a color-guy myself, and I just think this is like, the EPITOME of amazing color work.

I have a question guys. What do you think about getting tattoos with no meaning behind them? I hear alot of people talking about this and wanted to know what you guys think. I'm no tattoo expert, since I just have one and I got it 8 years ago, but I can say from my experience that it didn't really have any "meaning" at the time, but now it represents who I was when I got it, and reminds me of how I've grown up since then, and I think that's important. It's little and still kind of cute, so it's not like I hate it now... I could take it or leave it... but when I see it I remind myself that I was a dumb kid once, too (not in a bad way). I want to get another one, but I'm playing with some ideas until one sticks with me and I can't get it out of my head before I go and do it this time.

I have a question guys. What do you think about getting tattoos with no meaning behind them? I hear alot of people talking about this and wanted to know what you guys think. I honestly think that it's become a stupid stereotype that a tattoo just HAS TO HAVE a deep meaning or a message - and half of the time the person who has a tattoo like this, get's a tattoo that is SO ing obscure from what the meaning is - AND THEN when someone asks about it, they go off about how they hate being bugged about their ink. No, I don't think every tattoo has to have some life story/deep/spiritual meaning. I have Leonardo from the Ninja Turtles on my right forearm, and like someone else said, anything you get a tattoo of will at least have a LITTLE meaning behind it, even if it is nothing serious. Since you aren't tattooed, my advice is - if you do decide you want one, WAIT UNTIL YOU ARE OLDER. I can't even tell you how many stupid tattoos I wanted when I was a teenager. Unfortunately, people do change, but tattoos are forever - a lifetime commitment, and that **** just isn't for everyone. This is exactly why I waited until now to get my first. I'm 22 now, but back when I was 16 I had some really crappy and tangible ideas for tattoos. I just recently had Jesus carrying the cross put on my left arm. I didn't get it to show off how big of a Christian I am. Infact, most people with religious tattoos do nothing to follow it and only treat it as a good luck charm. I got the tattoo done for ME. To commemorate the sacrifice that he made for me. I LOVE it! I must say that I'm addicted already. I'm totally going back after I heal.

love the "senses fail" tattoo Wells. it came out real nice and the colors really pop. it's awesome having a friend who does tattoos. zZeDdIezZ, some real nice work you've done there. thanks for the pics. i like the collarbone tattoo. i was thinking of getting one but not sure what i want written. Mr. PPV, i love the super mario tattoo. it's a real throwback to my childhood and it came out awesome. i know someone on here has the 1up mushroom tattoo and i've always liked it and may even "borrow" the idea down the road sometime, hope you don't mind, haha. adambomb, i still go back and look at pictures of your tattoos. i was more of a gi joe/he man fan as a kid but your leonardo kicks so much ass and your knowledge of the tattoo world blows me away. i respect all your posts and opinions and always look forward to what you have to say in this thread. now onto me, i'll be heading back into the chair next weekend sometime. i can't go too expensive but i'll be pricing a few simple things out this week. my wife is heading up to NJ with our 11 week old boy so it's just me and my 2 dogs. anytime she goes away to see family and i can't make it, i go get tattood. as i mentioned earlier, i want to price out a collarbone piece. i'm leaning towards having the word "Loyalty" put there. another one i'm gonna price out is NJ in the new york yankees font. i want to put this on my left shin since i have the NJ state outline on my left calf the last thing i want to price is a pitchfork. i have no idea where to put it but i'll figure that out when it comes time to get it. i think something along the lines of this would look pretty cool, with a full handle of course. i really want my son's handprints but he's still too young to hold his hand open long enough to get a good ink print of it. i'll wait til he's a little older. hopefully a new pic will be up next weekend of something new.
