Start Em / Sit Em for Week 14
Written by Nick Caron, NFLFantasySpot.com
Start ‘Em
Quarterbacks:
Alex Smith, SF (vs. SF)
The Cardinals have struggled to stop opposing quarterbacks all season and Alex Smith has thrown for multiple touchdowns in four of his past five games. The Cardinals have also been very good at stopping opposing running backs and the 49ers appear to be moving away from their running game, which means that there should be plenty of opportunities for Smith.
Chad Henne, MIA (@ JAC)
Henne is coming off of a monster game in which he tore apart the Patriots for a career-high 335 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile Jacksonville currently ranks 26th in the NFL in points surrendered to opposing quarterbacks. Advantage Henne and the Dolphins.
Running Backs:
Jamaal Charles, KC (vs. BUF)
Jamaal Charles has scored in four straight games since becoming the Chiefs’ primary back, and has a great matchup against the Bills, who rank dead-last in points allowed to opposing running backs this season. Not only that, but the Chiefs’ passing game is in shambles, and the Bills rank 3rd in points allowed to quarterbacks; so they will likely be leaning on Charles to have a big game and carry them to victory.
Fred Jackson, BUF (@ KC)
The flipside of the Jamaal Charles take is that the Chiefs are also terrible against running backs. Though many of us projected Marshawn Lynch to be the top back for the Bills, it appears that the new coaching staff in Buffalo favors Fred Jackson. Jackson struggled last week against the Jets, but the Chiefs may be the cure for his woes.
