So, who here thinks Mattel has the as Vince would say 'grapefruits' to actually cut a deal for copyright designs like CM Punk's Pepsi and Cobra Tattoos or Rey's Wrestle Mania Super Hero attires?

I would be ecstatic if they just put something in it's place. A blue and red ying yang would work for the Pepsi logo. And something like Jakks did on ECW series 1 Punk would be great for the cobra logo. It throws the whole figure off when they just leave it blank.

It would be really good if they could do something like this. Love too see Punk with full tattoos.
I wonder if because Mattel produces certain Superhero figures, can they do a Mysterio in those attires.

I don't think Mattel is going to cut a deal with its biggest rival Hasbro to license the Cobra logo. I was surprised Jakks manageged to sneak the yop of the Arashikage hexagram out of the top of Punks wrist tape though.
As for Pepsi, Mattel would need to increase the costs of its figures and sell millions of units to justify the license costs. So we would be getting a Punk in every range along with a Cena & Mysterio, as will inevitably happen past series 3...

From the HD videos it does not look probable. Those tats were not there.

Mattel has the rights to do most of Rey's Entrances, ex. Joker. But it'd be a stretch for them to get the Cobra logo passed bc Hasbro has the rights to them and have for the past 26 years, and mattel and hasbro aren't too best of buds. But I agree, I want a punk with all of his tattoos.

The rest of his costumes (Spiderman, Silver Surfer, Dare Devil) are Marvel characters. 3. Hasbro makes the toys for Marvel. So unless Hasbro and Mattel suddenly get all buddy buddy, we aren't going to be seeing any of those things.

Actually they'd just need Marvel's permission to do the Marvel based attire and you forgot about Rey's Flash attire.

Just because Mattel make DC toys doesn't mean they can use DC trademarks in their other lines.

I know this isn't how copyright works, but it's too bad Pepsi wouldn't just LET Them use the logo. It's free advertising. It'd be like putting an ad right there on the figure. Plus it's not like they'd be profiting off of using the log on its own.

Once the purchase of Marvel is finalized, Mattel would need Disney's permission technically.

I'd be happy for a red and blue Ying and Yang, and a cobra design that doesn't actually match.
