I know the distributors arent supposed to ship till January but is it possible they'll get here before Christmas? I know some stores like Walmart get things ahead of time and they even put em on the shelf ahead of time......

no way man, they are making a HUGE thing out of this 1/1/10 date. You won't see anything before then...also stores legally aren't allowed to sell Mattell's product until then.

For what it's worth, I was at a certain professional figures shop, and they said they'll recieve the figures in December, but, will not legally be allowed to even show them to customers...

I'm willing to bet that at least one store, will have them on the shelves. My guess is as always going to be Wal-Mart because they've got some real dumb people working for them.

surely some store worker will at least open a box and buy it, its not really a life and death situation if they do.

You have it totally wrong. The distributor--AKA Mattel--will be shipping these toys in December, in boxes marked "Do Not Sell Until 1/1/2010". Beyond a doubt, some--and only SOME--cases will be put out early and sold early. This is against Mattel's wishes and illegal, but it will happen.

lucky for me there's a worker at my Walmart that's always making deals with toy collectors..... he's the reason I got all my Marvel Legends Variants!

If Mattel does ship them early stores can't sell them until Jan 1st. If they do they can get into legal trouble for selling them before the license is in effect.

Do you know how many stores sell figures before their release dates each year? THOUSANDS. The fact is, stores can't be held liable for release dates on toys because 99.9% of employees don't know about, understand, or care about release dates on these.

Well, now, that could theorectially be true....except that the cases are clearly and largely marked with "Do Not Display Until..." on them. So if a store hired 99.9% of their staff with a mental disability, then what you say is entirely possible.. However, if even 1% of their staff does not have special needs, then what you say is not true.

So when I worked at Wal-Mart 6 years ago,was a big Masters of the Universe collector, and would scout out the back room for new figures....the cases that were marked with release dates specifically saying, "Do Not Display Until..." didn't exist? I was the only person seeing that writing and it was just a co-incidence that they were only on the sales floor on the date that I saw? Really?

These release dates are so stupid. Seriously...what are companies like Mattel & Hasbro going to do? Pull their stuff from Wal-Mart? That would hurt the toy companies way more than Wal-Mart.

Explain the hundreds of ebay auctions for Revenge of the Sith figures, Rise of Cobra figures, Lost in Space, Godzilla, Revenge of the Fallen figures, Target exclusives with set dates, K-Mart Day Pixar Cars, etc. that have all hit ebay weeks if not months before the official release date printed on the box? Toy items with release dates have always--and will always--slip out early.

Yeah, stuff will slip out, I'm not saying it won't, but what I was saying is that you said that they come out early because the staff at these stores don't know about the release date, which is not true.
