Well Mattel has said that the figs are going to be in stores on 1.1.10.
Well, I have already scheduled it to wake up early (7:00 am) and make a video of me going to K-Mart (and maybe some other stores) and seeing if they are actually in stock.
Do you think that they will be in stores 1.1.10?

These are going to be sent to stores weeks before 1/1/10 without a doubt, with a sticker marked "DO NOT SELL BEFORE 1/1/10". I would be astonished if we don't see some of these leak out for sale before the year is over. Count on it.

Exactly, this is a common thing with retail, moreso with products relating to an upcoming movie. They will be sent out a good few weeks before with a date for putting out on sale, the date coincides with or just before the release of a movie to help maximise sales of the toys and help push the fact that movie is out. Depending on the store/store manager, i wouldn't be surprised to see some of the employees getting away with buying them before the date.

K Mart isn't really known for their wrestling toys, so THEY may not. But I'm sure TRU will. Most toys have release dates on them.

It will Christmas time/New Years, lots of chaos, part time workers, and store managers just wanting to sell any and everything in the store.

If I wake up early on 1/1/10 and saunter on up to K-Mart, I know I'm just going to find the same CS Val Venis and Flex-Em figures.

Yeah, Mattel has always been good about getting the product to the store and having it labelled, "Do Not Sell until...." I know they did it with The Dark Knight and Batman Begins toys. I worked at Wal-Mart back when Masters of The Universe was revived in 2002 and would scout out the cases marked with specific release dates. Trust me, they'll be out January 1st.

With stock being absolutely chomped through less than a week prior when the christmas buzz is in full effect, i wouldnt be surprised if oblivious/lazy staff ending up putting them out possibly unaware.

I would not waste my time at KMart. They'll probably have the figures in stock, but their incompetent staff won't have them on the floor or even know where they are.

I worked at a TRU for many, many years and several toy lines would come in with "release dates" on the boxes, mainly ones that were tied in with movie releases and whatnot. And anyway, why wouldn't Mattel want their figures out in stores in December, or even earlier to capitalize on the holiday shopping season? I'm sure these new figs would fly off the shelves.

MaskedSuperstarFan They are not "allowed" to until 2010. It's the contract. Jakks still has the "contract" until then, and it would hurt the sales of Jakks if Mattel were to sell early.

Stores like Toys R Us, K-Mart, and Wal-Marts are going to be open on New Years Day?

Stores like Toys R Us, K-Mart, and Wal-Marts are going to be open on New Years Day? ...Are you joking? They always ALWAYS have been before, so there's no reason this year would be any different.

They'll be arriving a lot later for where I am, because stock in all stores around here is terrible. It takes so much longer for figs to get here. It may take an extra two weeks of waiting in some cases, and sometimes we won't even get certain sets at all. It's a real piss off.

They will be in stores on that date, but it will suck if I drive an hour to TRU and they are not there.
