I know alot of people are excited about some of the new things that Mattel will be putting forth when they aquire the WWE license in 2010. But I for one kind've don't like the figs. The main reason being: they're too much like the R3 figures. I absolutely HATED those things, due to horrible playability mostly. Since I still play with my figures I'm just not sure I'm gonna purchase Mattel WWE. Anybody else been thinking about this?

I heard they will have two lines, though. So you may hate those, but you can wait to see the other line, if there is one. To me, they look pretty decent, so I'm looking forward to them.

I'm a DA fan and its good to see Mattel are doing a line like that but until the painted versions are released, I'm still preferring Jakks.

trust me the playability is awesome! they move alot better than the RA's! I can bend the legs back to touch their backs, try that with RA.

My only concern is the rumored "action feature" on some of them.

My only concern is the rumored "action feature" on some of them. Hadn't heard about that one, but that would definitely keep me from getting many. I hate those things. Those old WCW Toybiz figures had action features and that really sucked up some of those figures playability.

My only concern is the rumored "action feature" on some of them. mmm, that really scred me when i saw it a few months back, i mean its just too childish, no kid caares oh yay attitude adjustment action on this figure! they just open and play. Even tho most of the market is now collectors and older players/posers etc.

As much as I loved Hasbro's (which I'm looking to start collecting again) I didn't like the action features, so this made me reconsider collecting Mattel, regardless of the detail.

Is their playability anything like R3, or are they better like the legs? the arms are nothing like the unmovable R3 arms, they have the same joint and movement as RA. overall the plastic used it not so "plasticky" if that makes sence... its like the figures doesnt feel like its gonna break if moved alot.

Ok, that makes me feel alot better now. Those arms just look like R3 and since I still play, it would be a huge letdown if they were practically unmoveable like R3. But if they're like the RA arms then I'm totally pumped!

I'm on board with StingerSplash here about the playability, especially about the Elite, basic, and two-pack lines.
But I have faith in Mattel, I think they realize how big of a deal this is and what a great opportunity it is.

I am seeing alot of posts about people comparing these to R#'s and I really don't see it. Right off the bat they have more articulation than any R3 ever had. From what I can see in the proto pics they have the same POA as RA (Basic) and DA (Elite) The only difference is I don't see thunder thighs on the basics or extra long legs on the DA's Sure they might be too ripped, but I'd rather the ripped look over the thunder thighs.
The only thing one could say compares them to R3 is the fact they they have scale within the series by different sizes/builds for each wrestler which Jakks gave up on in their R3 line very early on. If Jakks had stuck with that instead of deciding to give everyone the Austin torso that would have been the best line ever. I would have loved to have gotten the CS in R3 form Jakks...here's hoping mattel has more "Classic" wrestlers other than Austin down the road. For now I say bring on Jan 1 so I can get those two HHH figures!

They have no further information on the line other than the fact that it will indeed exist, and the target date. " that right above SOLD me!!!! ;D ;D ;D

I don't like how they are basically in R3 form either but hopefully they are better than those crappy figs. Beth looked awesome so I think the divas will be fine so I am happy. Others will probably have a big decision on their hands. .

They look like they are between R3 and the current action figures Jakks is releasing which is good. The R3 figures looked decent but the arms and legs were too skinny. Remember the nWo pack they released in 2002? A pale Hollywood Hogan with 10 1/2 inch pythons. However with the new Mattel figures the wrestlers' physique seems to be more proper rather than over or under exaggerated. The Jakks figures had many flaws including placing a head that was either too big or too small for the body it was placed on, such as the Scott Hall figure that was part of the Outsiders Classic set. If you want to compare them to video games, the Jakks figures are like the Legends of WrestleMania characters and Mattel ressembles closer to SmackDown! vs Raw characters.

I dont have a problem with them really. The scans could be a little better on some and im sure they will after mattel gets some experience under the belt.

I started this thread before they unveiled actual Mattel protos, and was only basing my opinions off of unpainted protos that I had seen. However, I am in love with these figures now. After seeing the Mattel protos, I am officially hooked on these figs. Especially the Elite line. ;D
