Dark Matches
Match 1
Gino Giovanni def. Damien Wayne
The Philly crowd just tore apart Gino Giovanni throughout the match, with chants of "Where's My Pizza", which was more famously used on Little Guido in the original ECW. Damien Wayne dominated the majority of the match until he missed a running avalanche in the corner and Gino Giovanni rolled him up for the three count, with his feet on the ropes.
Match 2
The Super Smash Brothers (Player Uno & Player Dos) def. John Kermon & Brandon Day
The Super Smash Brothers were way over with the Philly crowd, which would play into a match later into the evening during the tapings. The Super Smash Brothers won the match after Player Uno rolled up John Kermon, after an insane suicide dive by Player Dos on Brandon Day.
Match 3
Kevin Steen & El Generico def. The Set (J-Sinn & Lance Lude)
This was a total squash from the opening bell as Kevin Steen and El Generico defeated the oddly homoerotic duo of The Set. The match ended won Kevin Steen and El Generico hit J-Sinn with a swanton bomb/frog splash combination. After the match, Lance Lude carried his tag team partner J-Sinn backstage in the 69 position, making me wonder what happened in the locker room post match and thus giving me nightmares for years to come.
Taping #1
Segment #1
ROH World Champion "A Double" Austin Aries and Kenny King hit the ring to talk about the destruction of former ROH World Champion Jerry Lynn. Tyler Black eventually hit's the ring and the ladies went insane, one not so skinny woman even removed her Tyler Black t-shirt, thus adding to my new quota of daily nightmares. Anyway, Tyler Black holds a lottery to see who will face Kenny King later in the evening and Eddie Kingston's name was chosen.
Match 1
Four Corner Survival Match
Delirious def. Sonjay Dutt, Necro Butcher & Joey Ryan w/Prince Nana & Ernie Osiris
This match was total action from bell to bell, with Delirious doing an insane dive onto Sonjay Dutt and Joey Ryan that saw Delirious nearly do a Wrestlemania 25-Undertaker like fall onto his head, he ended up slicing his arm and bleeding. Joey Ryan and Sonjay Dutt worked together for the majority of the match, but they eventually turned on each other. Necro Butcher even did a suicide dive from the ring apron onto Joey Ryan, while Delirious hit Sonjay Dutt with shadows over hell to win the match.
Match 2
Brent Albright def. D-Lo Brown
This match inadvertently cost me a days pay at my job, because I was sitting front row when D-Lo Brown whipped Brent Albright into the guardrail and the guardrail smashed into my kneecap. This match saw tons of fan interaction between D-Lo Brown and the Philly crowd, which popped huge for his entrance. Brent Albright looked good as always, winning the match after locking in the crowbar on D-Lo Brown and forcing the tap out.
Match 3
Kenny King def. Eddie Kingston
Kenny King stole the show here before the match began by shouting "hit me in my pretty face and I'll f*ck you up." It didn't take long for Eddie Kingston to oblige and hit Kenny King in the face, as these two battled all over ringside. I must wonder if ROH hates guardrails, because these two wrestlers through each other at them as if it were a contest to see who can break one first. Kenny King won the match after Chris Hero distracted Eddie Kingston and Kenny King hit him with his finisher.
Taping #2
Match 1
The Briscoe Brothers (Mark & Jay) fought The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) to a No Contest
This match is definitely worth going out of your way to see as both The Briscoe Brothers and The Young Bucks put on a classic encounter. The Young Bucks were easily established as the next big tag team in Ring Of Honor and The Briscoe Brothers continue to show why they are the best tag team not in the WWE or TNA. The Young Bucks were about to finish off The Briscoe Brothers when The Dark City Fight Club interfered to cause a no contest. After the match, both The Briscoe Brothers and The Young Bucks fought The Dark City Fight Club until they ran backstage.
Match 2
Rhett Titus def. Alex Payne
Rhett Titus came out wearing gear that looked like it was robbed from the Scotty Flamingo WCW yard sale, his trunks said "Rhett-ski the jet ski." Both Rhett Titus and Alex Payne looked decent in this match, which Rhett Titus won after rolling up Alex Payne with a handful of tights.
Match 3
Claudio Castagnoli w/Prince Nana & Ernie Osiris def. Grizzly Redwood
The words "complete squash" come to mind while watching this match, that saw Claudio Castagnoli easily defeat Grizzly Redwood with the Ricola Bomb. After the match, The Embassy tried to cut the beard off of Grizzly Redwood when Necro Butcher came out and chased them away.
Match 4
Colt Cabana def. Nigel McGuinness
It didn't take long for the "thank you Nigel" chants to break out, plus there was a group of British fans in the front row waving the British flag throughout the match. Despite being a popular wrestler in ROH, Colt Cabana was jeered like a heel during the majority of the match because the fans wanted to see Nigel McGuinness pull out the victory. Colt Cabana would attain the victory after he hit Nigel McGuinness with a Colt 45 variation from out of nowhere. After the match, the crowd again chanted "thank you Nigel" and Nigel McGuinness stayed in the ring and acknowledged the crowd.
Taping #3
Segment #1
ROH World Champion Austin Aries came to the ring and called out Tyler Black to choose a name for the Austin Aries lottery. Tyler Black came out and picked a name and then was hit in the face by a fireball from Austin Aries, who claimed it was an accident.
Match 1
Kevin Steen & El Generico def. The Super Smash Brothers (Player Uno & Player Dos)
If The Briscoe Brothers helped The Young Bucks become stars in ROH earlier in the show, then Kevin Steen and El Generico did it with The Super Smash Brothers here. The crowd was firmly behind both teams in this match, even chanting "this is awesome" midway through the bout. Kevin Steen lit up Player Dos with chops throughout the match that even made myself cringe at different moments. Kevin Steen and El Generico won the match after they hit Player Dos with a package pile driver/brain buster combination.
Match 2
Chris Hero w/Shane Hagadorn def. Bobby Dempsey
Besides the crowd heat for Chris Hero over what he did earlier to Eddie Kingston, there wasn't much of a match to speak of. Chris Hero would defeat Bobby Dempsey following the interference of Shane Hagadorn and two straight roaring elbows. After the match, Eddie Kingston came out and cut a promo on Chris Hero, stating that "I should be just like you."
Match 3
Non-Title Match
The American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) w/Shane Hagadorn (ROH Tag Team Champions) def. Bryan Danielson & Roderick Strong
Outside of The Undertaker/Shawn Michaels match at WWE Wrestlemania 25, this tag team match was the best match I've seen all year and would recommend any wrestling fan to check out this match when it airs on HDNet. The emotion from the crowd when Bryan Danielson hit the ring was beyond amazing, chants of "thank you dragon" were heard throughout the match. Roderick Strong took a nasty tornado DDT from Davey Richards on the arena floor early on in the match. The American Wolves won the match after Eddie Edwards forced Roderick Strong to tap out to a single leg Boston crab. After the match, Bryan Danielson challenged Roderick Strong to a match on Friday Night and then had the DJ play "The Final Countdown" to end the event.
Biggest Pops
1. Bryan Danielson
2. Nigel McGuinness
3. D-Lo Brown
Most Heat
1. The American Wolves
2. Chris Hero
3. Austin Aries
Other Notes
Crowd size was between 200-300 people…Bryan Danielson vs. Roderick Strong, Tyler Black vs. Kenny King, The American Wolves vs. The Young Bucks, The Briscoe Brothers vs. The Dark City Fight Club & Eddie Kingston vs. Claudio Castagnoli announced for Friday tapings…ROH booker Adam Pearce was seen walking through the crowd before the show began…ROH owner Cary Silkin did the same…
Didn't know whether this should go here or Other Wrestling forum, but since it is technically TV spoilers I said why not.
