I was a little sceptical at first of hearing Mattel were going to be taking over the WWE line when it was first announced, I just didn't want it to happen.
But, now, after seeing all these Proto images flying around the net & on YouTube, I can't wait, they look awesome & I can't wait for the switch.
The only 2 problems I have with them so far though is that not all the figures have the Chest cut & not all the figures look like they can kick their Legs out sideways, i.e. as in the Jakks D.A. style. It looks like Punk & Hardy look as though they have been made to, etc, but HBK, Jericho, Bourne, etc have not.
The more articulation, the better & I think all thefigs, regardless of shape or stature (i.e. Mark Henry, Rey, Undertaker, Kane, Great Khali, Big Show, etc) should have the exact same articulation rather than some being limited to others.
Other than those minor problems which I hope they adress before release, the Scaling is great, the moulds look realistic instead of bulky & cartoony & the details they put in to Boots (See Bourne & Jericho) are spot on & awesome.
I'm just hoping for Chest cuts & D.A. type articulation for all.
;D

The fact that Evan Bourne doesn't have a joint in his torso is beyond me.. They looked pretty good though.. The way Bourne's boots were sculpted indicates to me that a JTG would have his signature bandana and pantleg rolled up.. Looking forward to finished products

There are seperate lines, the "RA" alternative has no chest movement, but the "DA" does.

But, I'm sure a Mattel representative said they were trying to incorporate the scale / size based on Jakks RA line, while taking the articulation / movement from Jakks DA line. Mattel won't need to do 2 seperate lines like Jakks did if they incorporate all the right articulation for all the figures from the get go.

They're only prototypes at this stage, so they may well just go one way or the other by release.

Just looking at the Evan Bourne and Jeff Hardy figures, this Mattel line is sadly going to smash the Jakks line. Sure Jakks gave us a huge variety and huge collection, but it terms of quality, not quantity, Mattel knabs that.
Who knows, Mattel might give us both quantity and quality.

I like the fact that Mattel is going to have 2 seperate lines. I don't play with my figures so I prefer the RA style and those that do will like the DA much better. This way Mattle doesn't lose any fans of either line.

Is it confirmed that there will be two separate lines? Anyone have a link to that interview or those details?

It's a smarter move to produce both, since both lines by Jakks clearly sell well.

I don't mean to be rude but I think DA is a load of shit. They look terrible while RA on the other hand don't look like mutants.

No offense to any MOC Collectors, but, if you're a collector of anything Action Figure related, not just Wrestling, why should MOC collectors be bothered how much articulation a figure has when all you're gonna do is leave it in the box anyways, therefore, for Kids, People who like to Play with or Display in Poses outside of the box, surely, it would be better to make Action Figures & Toys that are Wrestling or Fighting based with as much point of articulation as possible for people who open their figs as it really shouldn't make a difference to the MOC collector.

and just 1 off-topic question. im new here and i was just wonderin, how do i get a pic with my post?

Here's the only problem I have with Mattel. And they've had this same problem since they took over the Batman/DC license in 2003. It's now 2009 and we still are dealing with this... I received this email from spamS this weekend concerning some extra DCUC 9 figures I preordered back in March/April. Now it makes me wonder if the complete set I ordered from CSC back on Feb 11th will be affected. Because this is the second e-tailer to be shorter on their orders from this series. "Hi - we unfortunately have received bad news from Mattel on the DC Universe Series 9 assortment. They have informed us that they grossly under-produced this wave and that only about 25% of our order will be filled. Many other stores also apparently have suffered the same huge shortage, and the product is short across the entire market. We were extremely upset with Mattel for this news and have relayed to them how upset our customers will be as well. At this point, we unfortunately do not expect any more shipments from Mattel. For those of you who ordered between April 1st and May 14th, it is possible that your orders will fill due to cancellations and non-payment of orders from people who ordered before you (their cancelled orders will move to the next people in line automatically). If you ordered after these dates, it is very unlikely we will have any inventory, and we suggest that you purchase these figures anywhere else you may be able to find them. (You can view the date you ordered your product by logging into your spamS account and viewing your preorders) We have heard reports they are showing up at mass market stores, and some should also be on ebay. We absolutely hate not being able to fill your order, but Mattel has really screwed up this wave and there is not anything we can do about it. We are hoping that some sort of future production run of DCU 09 can be negotiated, but at this point there is nothing worked out. We will keep your preorders open in our system until we can determine if Mattel will produce more in the future or not. We will email you with any further news as we hear it from Mattel, hopefully something will be resolved. The sales manager at Mattel did assure me that DCU waves 11, 12, and 13 would not suffer from the same issues, so we do not anticipate any shortages on those waves Sincerely Joel Boblit President www.bigbadtoystore.com" Now this is nothing new as they also had the same problem with Series 6. And you can never find new product on the shelfs of the mass retail stores. So for 5 or 6 years now they still can't get their production/distribution corrected. It's a d@mn shame because the Four Horsemen are sculpting some beautiful DC figures for them, but at this point who cares? Because you can't find them at least not on the east coast. I say the same thing will happen with their WWE lines.

Iam delighted that they are in scale to toybiz figures rather than jakks RA.

As far as protos go, I think the figures look great. I see specific molds being used and I also see correct scale with Evan a little shorter than HBK and HBK a bit shorter than Big Show, etc.
I do worry about distribution though. As the above post points out, Mattel has some issues with that and I guess we're all spoiled with JAKKS distribution because JAKKS always ships plenty of product out and they do it quite often too. We'll see. As soon as I see any kind of pre-order I'm doin it.
