Glad to see Triple H is finally getting some toy love. Jakks can't seem to get it right, for some reason. I looking forward to see what all Mattel will offer. I may have to just start all over.
+1 for your investigating skills!

Thanks for doing this, dgnr8, I really appreciate it.
I'm willing to give these figures a chance even though I once believed that I would never collect again after Jakks Pacific's 13 to 14-year reign.
If Mattel gives us a product on par or greater than Jakks, I will strongly consider starting up a brand new collection in 2010. Distribution is very important for me, but I would prefer lesser series and for them to give their best effort on each series.
I'm someone who tends to want to complete things, so I don't know if collecting a new line from the very beginning will be kind on my wallet. I could always pick and choose, but I'm anticipating the first protos of the new line now more than ever after this closer look at Mattel's Triple H.

They want you to HAVE to buy all their figures, not just the new guys, or all new attire. This way you either quit collecting, don't care about scale, or buy all new Cena, Triple H, and Undertaker figures to fit in with your new collection. hmmm... i never thought of it that way. its not a very nice thing to do though. sucks for those of use who actually collect. but i suppose all they care about it profit. It depends on what you collect. If you're one of those people who have LJN's, Hasbros, BCA, TTL, R3, and RA figures all on display then it's nothing new, and can actually be kinda nice to add a new style Undertaker to your WWF/E collection. If you're a Jakks/RA only collector though then yeah, it's not as nice as they could be. But why would Mattel want to help you continue your Jakks collection when you'd probably buy more Jakks TNA/UFC figures anyway? I mean the whole "I'm done if they're not in scale" line is really kinda old. I much prefer TNA to WWE and Marvel Toys to Jakks, but I'm not complaining that I probably already got the best AJ Styles I'm going to, and my only hope for a Beautiful People set or Suicide or street gear figures are custom TNA/Marvel Legends/SOTA Street Fighter/or Buffy toys. Plus the whole scale issue is kinda irrelevant. I mean Marvel Legends and the DCUC lines are both six inche scale but put a Penguin next to Wolverine or Xavier next to Superman and they just simply clash. So what would happen if the HHH semi-shown from Mattel was exactly the same height and weight as an RA HHH, but his legs are a little more spread apart, his skin has a more textured less plastic look, and Mattel actually slops a few washes over the torso to give it some color? They'd look just as bad next to each other as they would if the Mattel line is an inch shorter.

i just hope they are the exact same size as RAs. cos them saying they will be original jakks scale is ambigous. it could mean BCA scale (as in the original first series of jakks wwf figures) or it could mean RA scale (as in the original--just-before-mattel figures). but my instinct suspects the former, sadly. when will toy companies learn... new collectors and kids will buy them whatever the scale. some jakks collectors will only buy them if they are to scale with RA... what POSSIBLE sales advantage is there to making them smaller than RAs... Save money on supplies: plastic, paint, etc. and charge the same price.

It looks pretty good. Honestly, the shape doesn't look much different than RA to me. I was and still am optimistic Mattel will give a good product. They know how successful JAKKS line was and it would be counterproductive for them to go in a lesser or different direction.
The scan also looks awesome. I'm really excited to see some full images!!

It kind of looks like an RA type body style to me.
Kind of excited to see the final product.

Jakks has done this for YEARS BCA didnt go with TTL TTL didnt go with R3 R3 didnt go with RA RA didnt go with DA im tired of collecting the same guys all over again and did it from BCA to RA, im Done.

So you guys hate the fact that TNA is going DA, while you love this? It is DA Articulation, but you love it because it isnt Jakks. Jesus, Two Sided people man.

the recent pics have convinced me to seriously consider the mattel line. i disagree with u on the DA style torsos. while u could be right i think wat u r seeing is the top of his trunks and a seam in the plastic of the torso. i just hope the shoulders r on ball joints and the legs bend at the knees. it would be nice if the legs were on ball joints too but i can live without that. i also hope there r no toe joints. at some point u can have too much articulation

I for one, upon enhancing the picture began to anticipate the Mattel figures even more. I don't plan to start a whole new collection, but if the quality is there, and Mattel limits the number of figures in a given set to a reasonable number, I might just be persuaded to buy some Mattel product.

Thanks for the work you put into the pictures. Definitely reveals some new details about the Mattel WWE line. I still stand by what I said back in February 2008 and I will NOT be collecting Mattel regardless of how well they are done. I WILL however pick up a few personal favorite legends (if made) if the figures look good.

So you guys hate the fact that TNA is going DA, while you love this? It is DA Articulation, but you love it because it isnt Jakks. Jesus, Two Sided people man. DA and DA Articulation are completly different concepts. You can't compare Marvel Toys TNA Line to DA though they had similiar articulation. The same about Mattel WWE and JAKKS WWE. Similiar figures can be completely different. About the DA's though. I like them more than RA, but that's not saying much. The biceps are ridiculous and hinder both poseablity and playability only made worse by the single pinned elbows and cartoonish sized chests. That out of the way if the TNA line used the UFC non-heavyweight molds, I'd probably even forgive the lack of double jointed elbows and buy most of the figures. I think JAKKS did an amazing job with the WWE line, I just think the actual product not counting accessories was horrible and long outdated.

Thanks for the work dgnr8! Can't wait for these figures, I love the fact that they get smaller AND have a Deluxe Articulation. If it wasn't a long way to New York for me I'd love to go to New York Toyfair this November.

I'll guarantee you one thing: the actual figures will be smaller then the magazine.

I don't know. Mattel are the creators of Barbie and DCU or whatever the name is and also He-Man.
The stuff they do that you see on sale at Forbidden Planet in NY is splendid and uber detailed. Costs a grip however.
I am just afraid that all the figures will look like Jay Cutler.
There are many good points in this thread. They will not go with the rest of the stuff that all of us have already collected. Hence buying everything again, no way.
In order for me to start collecting Mattel they have to come up with all my favorite legends in removable clothing and at that the likenesses and the packaging should top the stuff that Jakks do.
Otherwise TNA (on condition that they are RA) and afterwards sayonara.
